That's a whole other argument. This is about international football.

I never even knew players got paid for playing for their country. Bit of a nonsense for male football tbh. They get enough as it is.

Women should absolutely get the same wage for international football, seeing as they get a * pittance compared to their male counterparts in club football.

So basically it's the men's game propping it up!

Women's CL final crowd last year was literally 2 people deep but they want the stature that the men's game has spent 170 years developing.

Wait for England to follow suit. Just like with their tennis and cricket.

How can their even be a female champions league ? In the men's game it's a tv driven evolution of the European cup and may well return to the knockout format in future (hopefully) and again has history . Wimmens sport seems to come along and just demand the same stature, privileges and pAy without actually developing and earning the right. Women's CL, women's ashes ( what a joke) , women's 6 nations.

I'm not against any women's sport, although I find women's football utterly boring and detest the over promotion and hype from the likes of the BBC. I do think that it should be required to support itself. So pay structure should be a reflection of the earnings that their game brings. Going by crowds, tv coverage ( even with the bbcs partisan attitude) and sponsorship it adds up to somewhere between zero and feckall..

This is one of the key points.

Big clubs like Arsenal, Man City, etc.. Even Celtic, with women's teams have a well established 'parent' to support and develop them with stadium, training facilities etc... It's easy for some to suggest that they deserve equal pay. But they are not the ones bringing in the money. Often they are not full time and certsinly not the ones attracting sponsorship or tv deals.

How much money would Arsenal ladies bring in if they were a completely separate club from the men's game and had to do absolutely everything for themselves? What would they get paid then?

Should development players get the same as first team squad?

It's just got stupid recently.

There's a reason why Manchester United, one of the most profitable football enterprises in the world, doesn't run a women's team.

 

So they shouldn't get paid the same as men.

Notts county whose ladies team were in the top division recently binned the whole thing for financial reasons.

The whole appearance of the women's game is artificial and not self-sustaining. Most are effectively loss-making businesses but don't get penalised as they are hidden within the financial structure of the men's game.
