Anyone follow Non League Football or their local team? I know a few who do even beyond my occasional jaunt with City of Liverpool FC. I know a few who watch Prescot Cables etc and I went to see COLFC in a winning final + them beat Prescot Cables away in the FA Cup Prelims.

As the EPL has become a monster/SPFL monopolized and football more commercialised (Everton's stadium move) and more sanitized atmosphere and expensive, I've been to watch COLFC more. They are making a film about people who've done this including ex season ticket holders of Liverpool/Everton who gave it up for Non League, Community owned/run grass roots football clubs where you can actually drink beer, sing and afford tickets and mix with players and management without fuss.

    Forthcoming film about COLFC

Up here there is the Lowland and Highland Leagues which are now part of a pyramid to get into the SPFL.

But generally speaking, non-league football is known as Junior Football. It has quite a strong following depending on the region. The two Superleagues (East and West) have very good players and some can draw big crowds.

I’ve played lowland and junior and was fortunate enough to play for my local junior team too, part of the boys club I started at in under 9s. The atmosphere is the same as you describe, fans mixing with players, the clubbie after the game etc, and the banter from the terraces when you’re on the pitch can be brutal :56: not for the faint-hearted or shy and retiring player. Still go along to watch every now and again.

Whenever there's a free weekend or international weekend I'll try and go watch a junior game. Really enjoy the atmosphere and how accessible the games are from pricing to get in to being able to get in with a cargo!

Really good value for entertainment as well. Some cracking players at that level who opt to stay because, as mad as it sounds, they can earn more playing at junior level than in part time professional teams in the professional leagues.

Yeah I love it when your on the coach to an away game and not knowing the guy next to you is the manager, you ask 'whats the team' and he points to the guy in the seat in front and says 'he's in goal' hahahaha

Is there any H&L teams from Glasgow?

Used to go to the odd Junior game as loved the contrast from professional football, as someone said the banter alone is worth the admission money and some of the football at times can be excellent if you hit it on the right day, in Ayrshire some of these junior teams get decent crowds and the following is probably more fervent than many lower league professional teams.

Last game I went to was last season at Larkhall and nobody was even there at the gate to take my entrance fee, it can be like that at times but it’s great fun and makes you understand that the people going to these games are just as passionate about their clubs as we are about Celtic, in many ways could could argue even more so.

As sad as it may sound I’ve always wanted to take a game in at Wick just to say I’ve been to the most norternly place and ground in the country, maybe one day who knows

When I stayed in Edinburgh and stopped going to celtic games, I went to a few Spartans game. 50 quid for a season ticket and they did a lot of really good work for the community. They have a great set up and while it is sometime like watching a different sport compared to the elite game, it was good fun.

Been to Dulwich Hamlet a few time's as a few of us drank with the big striker from our area. First time I watched him was against his former side Bromley (close enough derby) and the away support of about 50-100 were all singing his name..

We were noising him up in the game shouting his name a bit amongst other thing's :fear: and ducking under the seats and he was a hot head trying to see where it was coming from. Next minute a ball goes up in the air and he elbows the big centre half he (probably) played with. Got a booking that in any other game was a red and 3 match ban :56:

Good in the summer and club house's after..

Like you said mate it has its charm doesn't it?

I'm the type of person where sometimes I'd rather watch the honesty and enthuasiasm of the Celtic/Everton Youth team or 2 part time lads fresh off the * the night before bang two goals past Runcorn Linnets for City of Liverpool FC in the North West Counties League (Step 5 of English Pyramid)
