Issue is the window has been open for over 3 weeks by the time he starts. Then have 8 days until the first qualifier and we have no right back and no left back with 2 fit CB

How can this happened in such a short period of time? Our set up should be light years ahead of theirs.

It probably works different at different clubs but in alot of countries the DOF has a hand in picking the manager, controlling the youth set up, getting transfers over the line etc. The role is usually a long term position to keep continuity between when there's changes in managers etc.

After watching Frimpong a few nights ago it has to be said the quality of our signings in the summer has been excellent. Im taking it this guy has a lot to do with that, if thats the case he deserves a lot of credit.

    Aye absolutely... :50:

If these signings are anything to do with him, I want this guy on a premanent and not just filling in or helping out.

That is quite the belter at the end of that * @Valhalla . The board will sign someone who isn't skilled enough for the role so they have a patsy to hide behind WHEN (not IF) it goes * up.

I mean it's a foolproof plan. Employ someone (in your opinion) who can't do the job so they can sack him when he fails and they can hide behind him.

That's top level stuff from the club. Clubs all over the world will be looking on enviously.

The thing is, a lot of the people we signed wouldn't be 'acceptable' transfers in EPL teams, so may be on a lot of clubs radars but they can't 'buy down' (purely financially speaking) to say their purchases amounted to a few million in development players. If Hammond really does have a finger on the pulse at EPL youth level, we could skim great talent that would be hungry to shine and rise to European games who'd be buried in squads in England.

Very early doors, but the combination of himself and Lennon seems to have worked out so far. If it's true they are responsible we need to solidify the relationship pronto...

You think Lawwell wants to hire someone and hand over all the power to him?

    What predictions is that?

We’ve signed 3 youth players and hired Darren O’Dea in one of the most important coaching roles at the club. Every other transfer was players we’ve wanted/monitored for a while.

Forgive me for not building him a statue because Frimpong had a cracking debut. If he was * I wouldn’t be saying it was a disaster either.

If we hire a DOF and he does a good job I’ll be the first to be on here praising him.

He has had more success in a few months than that * Congerton had in a few years.

But in the meantime you'll brand him a failure until he is a success?

    "Not the required standard"

    "When he inevitably fails"

Am I reading too much into your words? it's quite vague tbh...

Someone not being of the required standard doesn’t mean they’re branded a failure.

Hammond isn’t even our DOF just now so it’s bit early to brand him a failure or a success.

    Go ahead though...

He had literally just walked in the door and you said "when he inevitably fails". What am I meant to derive from that other than you believe he will fail despite you knowing hee haw about him.

To then claim it's actually a board decision to appoint someone they know is unqualified so they have a patsy for when he fails, because that's their plan all along. Mental.

I never said it was a board decision and I never said he was unqualified.

Again, you can be qualified and also not be a ‘failure’ without being the required standard of the football club.
