Samsung and LG are prob the best bet for picture quality but the most expensive.

Our of those 3 I'd probably say the Toshiba.

    What's your budget?
You going to use it for gaming?

Not got Currys over there ? As in the electrical store before any smart * says anything.

Better seeing the tv in action first... difference in picture quality can be very noticeable.

looking to keep it under 400 quid, do have currys yeah I just found argos had the best prices from what I'd looked up.

99% of it will be for games yeah so does the Hz have alot to do with how smooth the picture will be? main reason I made the thread tbh ha

I think the motion rate (hz) can be good or a bad thing for gaming - maybe someone can clarify, but yeah it does smooth the picture.

The input lag / response time is quite important these days for gaming - ie the delay in you pressing a button and it being shown on the tvs picture.

    €400 or £400?

Don't know much about them but my mate has had a 42 inch LG for a good few years which he mainly uses for Playstation and it has the best picture I've seen by far.

I am looking for a gaming tv and have been told sony are great as they have lowest input lag. I thought hz was the main thing for gaming but was told although important the most important thing for gaming is the input lag.

The reason I am looking for a new TV is that I got ps4 and thought it looked good, then I went into GAME and their set up looked so much better and I realised I needed a better tv. (The model number for the TV in GAME is KDL-42W654A) I haven't checked the price myself as I am looking at a newer model with 3D but that TV made the ps4 look considerably better than the toshiba I am using just now. Hope that helps.

A big cheap telly will have ghosting during fast moving images due to its slow refresh rate and will be * for gaming. I saw a 32 inch Toshiba telly I wanted for my bedroom for £200 but its refresh rate is 20 milliseconds so it will be no use for my PS3. For gaming and fast action films you don't want any slower than 8ms but you should be going for something that has a 5ms refresh rate. My mate has a 39 inch Bush telly that was real cheap and the ghosting is horrendous.
