Good reception for Neil Lennon today and rightly so. When our unbeaten record does eventually go I wouldn't grumble too much if it was him that took it. Just hopefully not for a while.

Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has revealed how he and Neil Lennon used to want to kill each other in the heat of Old Firm battle - but wouldn't think twice about having a beer together afterwards.

The rivals were involved in numerous on-field flashpoints during their time playing for Rangers and Celtic .

There was even a clash on the touchline during the League Cup Final in 2009 after Lennon moved into coaching.

But, in an interview on former Celtic player Si Ferry's Open Goal, Ferguson reveals Lennon was the direct opponent he had most admiration for during all his many battles with the Hoops.

Asked who the toughest competitor he came up against in the middle of the park on derby day, Ferguson said: "I had a lot of time for Neil Lennon.

"He got quite a bit of criticism for the type of player he was but he was a player Celtic needed. He would not go and win you the game but he just sat in the middle and did a great job.

"Stan Petrov I thought was an excellent player, Paul Lambert is another I had a lot of respect for. Roy Keane is probably one of my favourite midfielders of all time.

"But for me it was Lenny. He is a Celtic man through and through and I'm obviously a Rangers man. You had two guys just wanting to win.

"During the game we hated each other, wanted to kill each other basically, to win for our team.

"But after the game it's all forgotten about and the respect is there.

"People would see us having a beer together and think 'you shouldn't be speaking to him'. But of course I should be talking to him."

Fair play to him for saying that.

There's always been that respect between players.

One of my favourite comments ever on here was last season when he got in a row with the Morton Manager,

"From beating Barcelona in the Champions League to having a square go with the Manager of Greenock Morton, what a life :giggle1: "

No he never, Lawwell did. The board realised he was right with what they've done with BR.

I think ronny was painfully unlucky that year. What other team clears goals off the oppositions line with there face. Although *, we would have been home and dry after the away leg but johanson decided he was a keeper.

(Obviously discounting the cracking 3-0 destruction of leiga)

I don't think he was unlucky. He didn't have the experience or technical nouse to lead us in Europe.

I can't believe he done that after they scored.

I have just sent a letter to the SPFL.
