Nadir Ciftci

Former Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci has been told he can leave Celtic after being omitted from their pre-season camp in Austria.


After moving from Tannadice for £1.5 million in 2015, the Turkish striker hasn’t been able to hold down a first-team place at Parkhead.

He will be training with the Celtic Development side until he can find a new club.

St Johnstone and Motherwell were both interested previously, while the Tangerines were keen for a loan deal for their former striker back in December.

In a bid for first-team action, the 25-year-old headed to Eskisehirspor on loan last year, scoring four goals in 12 games, before an ill-fated spell at Polish club Pogon Szczecin which ended this summer with an ankle injury.

This is a strange one. Ciftci looked a player at Dundee United. But mind you, so did Gary Mackay Steven

 

Not much strange about it. Deila and/or Park identified him as being a striker that had some qualities we didn't have in the squad. Maybe they thought he could develop his game into being a target man for us. We took a punt and it didn't work out for him.

Ciftci will have been frustrated with his lack of game time but his improved wage packet will have been good for him.

Hope he finds a new club asap.

 

No he didn't and no he didnt

 

He was 23 and had a couple good seasons for DU, at the time was a reasonable signing but obvioulsy hasnt worked out for the boy, still could do a job and resurrect his career at any other spl club probably.

 

Canny believe Dundee United fleeced us for 1.5 million for this dud whilst Aberdeen, our closest rivals, were happy to sell us their best player for 1.3.

 

He should never have been anywhere near Celtic , in my opinion . I said that from day one , even although some of my mates thought that he would improve his fitness , skill set and discipline . Glad he's going to be leaving , and hope he goes to a club outwith Scotland .

 

Hope Aberdeen sign him and he's scored 9 goals against the Huns.

 

Always had very little chance of making it here.

That small chance was further reduced when he was being brought on as a target man with 20 minutes to go by Ronny.

 

I would always put on the 'TT' "teletext" to see the scores a few years ago and when Dundee scored it would be him that scored.

So I understand. I think it's the pressure at a big club that's fked him. Saying that he's done nothing on his loans either.

And he runs like a clown too.

 

I never seen the point of signing him. I thought he was pish then and pisher now.

 

I squinted my eyes when we signed him in the first place.
