Uganda Cranes might have exited the ongoing AFCON tournament in Gabon earlier but to some players it was a market place of their talent.

Scottish giants Celtic have expressed their interest in hard tackling and intelligent defender Murushid Juuko.

Juuko who currently plays for Tanzanian side Simba SC featured in two matches at the ongoing AFCON tournament against Egypt and Mali having missed their opener against Ghana due to suspension.

According to his agent Ronnie Mwiine Santos, Juuko’s performances caught the eyes of the Scotish side.

“Celtic watched Juuko in the national team and liked him so we are in touch and they will send their scouts most likely on 25th.Feb.2017 when his club Simba SC takes on Yanga Africans.

“However we still have a contract with Simba up to December 2017 and I am in touch with Simba FC management since we are a family. Many offers are on table from Egypt, South Africa, Turkey but I’m waiting for him to return from Gabon then we seat and make a decision soon” he told soka25east.com

If all goes on well, Murushid who will be the first Ugandan to play for Celtic and the third to play in the Scotish Premier League after legendary David Obua (Hearts of Midlothian) and fast pacy striker Ibra Sekajja (Livingston FC)

    Celtic to sign Moses
By Pmbogo | Posted January 5, 2013 | Brugge, Belgium

Celtic Glasgow are poised to complete the signing of 23 year-old Ugandan midfielder, Moses Batunfata on long-term contract.

Batunfata - currently contracted to Indonesian Premier League team Persijap Jepara - is thought to have been on head coach Neil Lennon's radar for the past few months.

Representatives of the Scottish champions are said to have held talks over the highly-rated attacking midfielder, and are thought to be close to doing a deal that would see Batunfata link up with fellow Africans Wanyama Mugabe and Efe Ambrose. With Wanyama being linked with moves to Manchester United and Manchester City, the skillful attacker could be seen as the ideal replacement.

Former Heart of Oak star Batunfata - who was first capped by former Celtic rival Bobby Williamson - was due to meet up with the rest of the Ugandan national team this week, but has been replaced by AIK Stockholm's Martin Kayongo-Mutumda as he prepares to fly to United Kingdom to sign a deal worth a reported £650,000.

It is thought that the player is keen to secure a move to Celtic to achieve his ambition of playing European football, and is desperate to be part of Hoops squad to face Italian giants Juventus - which would be a dream come true for the self-confessed AC Milan fan.
