Apparently on around 55k a week at Southampton. The problem is if you give it to 1 player, the rest will say why am I on 20 to 30? Unless he has a deal where is salary is halved by relegation we are not getting him.

You could tell in his first few games that he was rusty but there was a player in there. His runs weren't picked up by the other forwards and his passing was a bit off as he didn't have the telepathy of where Edouard was or where he was making his run to.

He's now settled and he certainly has cemented that left side of the pitch for us.

My question to him would be why would you want to go back to Southampton? We'd give him decent enough wages. They're going to be relegated.

I think the majority of the EPL salaries are like that. Massive cuts for relegation. Gives us hope for him and the big man.

Most contracts carry a 40% wage cut if relegated. Not all, maybe not his, just saying.
This was the general consensus in press articles around the time Rodwell was picking up 70k a week for Sunderland in league one. The Sunderland chairman had not inserted this clause into some of his squads contracts & nearly killed the club.
You can be certain clubs aren't still making mistakes like that. There would be a cut of some kind.
    I'd love him here.

Good point. He was poor against Lazio as well so expecting a lot more from him on Thursday for the away game.

Like the majority of quality, successful loan signings... Its tough to take knowing they are unlikely to be here permanently.

Your right, it comes down to what he wants. If he really wants to stay he'll accept a wage cut. But then can Celtic afford the money Southampton would want. Also agents get involved and set him up with alternative options which could be an issue.

Wages should not be a problem, as it looks like he will be getting a 40% pay cut soon.

Even if they do go down and it's in his contract to drop, if he continues to play like this for us another team down there will probably take notice and offer him a wage similar to what he's getting now, I'm not getting my hopes up

Aye, I’ve already said to myself we’re not getting him. I’ll be happy with Paddy in the summer.

Our chief executive is earning twice as much as our highest paid player. Maybe it’s about time we start paying slightly higher wages.

If the club was to win the Europa League then I can see us shelling out on a player of this calibar

His career would be better off in the long run if he came here and tore it up for a few seasons. He won't be short of big money offers after that & likely from clubs that probably wouldn't fancy him now. If we are willing to shell out on him I hope he and his agents are wise enough to take the inevitable wage cut. Failing that he can hop around lower prem teams struggling for game time in teams that struggle to score goals and create chances.

I’m not condoning pl’s wages but the players can earn a lot through sponsorship as well, he can’t, surely.

Not sure how much our players can earn through it to be fair, but some players earn fantastic sums.

I really hope we make this guy our most expensive signing .
Has anyone else noticed that if he wore a black shoulder length wig he could take over from Noel fielding on the bake off thingy . Come on you photo shop people

That’s technically not true. Our chief executive is on a LTIP paid every few years. Lawwell is on approx £25k a week basic though which is probably more than 85% of the squad

Surely a wee gig with moneysavingexpert.com isn't out the question?
