Who’s ‘making him’ the poster boy?

The nature of the beast in MMA is you’re going to get your rough and ready characters. He’s just one of many.

    Nae bother Iron Mike :56:

Who said anyone was making him, but argument could definitely be made that Dana has pushed him there.

My point is, no one is. It’s the fan base he’s built which created the juggernaut.

    Conor McGregor... the * *!

He was in 3 'proper' (see what i did there) fights in his career. He had to go to the well against Nate twice and Khabib once - he was stopped in two of these, and barely sneaked the third. He's made a fortune out of taking the *!

MMA is in its infancy and it's embarrassing listening to folks wetting themselves as they proclaim that X or Y is the 'GOAT' of whatever division. McGregor had a foul * for a mouth, a left hand, * cardio, and a cocaine habit. That's it. The more the sport matures, the less Conor will be remembered.

I wish he would just take his millions and * off to the oblivion he's destined for.

Punching aul' fella's in a pub because they wouldn't drink his *-water!? Obnoxious *!

    I wouldn’t say he’s only had 3 proper fights.

It is funny how after Nate beat him though Conor fanboys started trying to make out like Nate was some sort of elite fighter :giggle1:

I’d love for him to regroup and go on a run at 155 but no chance it’s happening.

    3 proper fights :56::56::56:

He's beat; Holloway, Poirier, Diaz, Aldo and Alvarez. Only a casual believes he's been in 3 fights.

Brimage, Brandao, Siver and Mendes are no dumplings either.

I didn't say he's not beaten some decent fighters. I said he's only been in 3 wars against top level fighters. And of these 3, he was stopped in 2 of them, and was horrible in the other.

The Khabib fight was a particular embarrassment. Conor talked all sorts of revolting * beforehand, and then ended up whining like a scared child during the fight in the hope - one assumes - that Khabib would reign in the *-kicking.

Any 'legend' of his will only surround talk of his left hand, his lack of cardio, and his * mouth / out of competition conduct. Not his overall ability!

Yup. Surely a man of Conors alleged fighting genius wouldn't have got sucked into such a brutal and ugly fight against a wholly unprofessional pot-head.

And I'm not having a go at Diaz - that kid CAN fight - just imagine what he'd have been like had he actually took his career seriously! A half-arsed Diaz ended McGregor and very nearly ground him down a second time.

Conor is not the 'legend' some think. At least not when it comes to ability in MMA.

McGregor - Diaz II is one of the greatest UFC fights of all time.

You talk pish. IIRC you're the same guy with a bee in yer bunnet about Fury as well? I'm not surprised mother *...

Can you address the point without skirting around side issues please.

He's had 3 wars with 2 top-level MMA fighters (one of whom I'm sure we can both agree is less than 100% committed to the sport). He was stopped in two of these and squeaked the other (against the guy who I'm sure we can both agree is less than 100% committed to the sport).

    Hardly stellar...

Paul could walk in on McGregor * his maw up the * and he'd still think he was the best thing since sliced bread.

Great fighter on his day. Not one of the goats but a great fighter. Made great fighters look ordinary at times.

Sad to see his decline its been happening for a while now. Fames gone to his head and he clearly loves snorting gear too much. Hes in real danger of ruining his legacy altogether. Needs to ditch the hangers on and yes men.
