New Lord of the Rings game coming out next year, most likely. Article on IGN about it here:

    http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/01/23/orcs-are-no-longer-the-scariest-thing-in-mordor

It looks excellent - a cross between Assassin's Creed and the Arkham games with the addition of Middle Earth. Finally it looks like a great game from the LOTR lore.

Bit hesitant when i read about it and the nemesis thing will probably be really gimmicky. But it looks really promising. As you said it's assassins creed with batman combat in middle earth. Not necessarily a bad thing too that it seems similar to AC seeing as it is such a good series.
This could be a really great game though the makers, monolith games, last two games have been beyond terrible despite having really good concepts

Its a complete AC rip off tbh, still could be good though.

Can't say I'm expecting much in all honesty. It's a shame really, there seems to be potential but I have a gut feeling that it’ll be mediocre at best (hopefully I’m proven wrong though).

The nemesis system sounds interesting but could go either way depending on how it’s implemented. Obviously this is only the first batch of information released about the game since the reveal, but I hope that taking down orc warlords isn’t as repetitive as it seems like it may be. The main story of the game doesn’t really sound that interesting either from what little has been revealed so far.

From what I’ve seen online the game has got quite the uphill battle to win people over. A lot of the hardcore Tolkien fans seem to be finding errors with the story already which depending on how into the series you are is either a big problem or complete non-issue; and plenty of others seem to be writing it off for a whole host of reasons.

I've seen a few comments online that I can't help but agree with agree with regarding the existence of this game. Even being as a big fan of the books as I am, I would be a lot more interested if this was a completely new setting and not a game set in Middle Earth.

On a side note, the Assassins Creed gameplay seems to be a bit more than simple inspiration according to one of the AC2 devs. He’s accusing Monolith of outright copying his work.

I assumed they were working in some way with ubisoft. If they aren't, then this game is finished. That is if the coding has been copied. Not impossible that they just developed very similar animations and stuff from scratch.

    This.

Was hoping for a more mass combat style game.

Like the idea for this kind of LOTR game but as others have said before me it does look as if it'll get repetitive very quickly

Looks a bit * imo. There hasn't been a decent LOTR game for years.

The Two Towers game for PS2 was great.

I wish they'd remake some of these old ones for the next gen consoles. They'd be amazing with the improved graphics.

Anyone here played Lord of the Rings: War in the North?

Been watching some gameplay and it looks pretty fun, especially the online co-op.

First I've heard of this. If it takes the best part of AC, Batman games and Middle Earth this could be an excellent game. The concept is awesome.

I'm a big fan of the AC franchise so will love this game. Looks class. Does it matter at all that I haven't seen the Lord of The Rings films? :87:
