Scotland’s been pish altogether mate. No need to blame another country for our shortcomings.

It’s one of those things that will always happen. See the Andy Murray comparison as well.

I was only joking but it is true..

The overwhelming majority of English player's playing for Scotland weren't wanted by England and are pretty pish..

That isn't the only reason we're garbage, but can't be helping when we overlook our own league and youngsters....instead trying to scout anyone in the Championship or league 1 with a Scottish granny..

Riquelme, who won nothing in Europe, was better than Özil? The top assist provider in Europe for the last 5 years, and a World Cup winner? :56::56:

He wasn't good enough at the World Cup, that is fair criticism, but the abuse he has received compared to other players who were just as bad, if not worse, is completely disproportionate and unacceptable e.g. Müller, Hummels...wonder why?

Personally I've always had a disliking for Ozil because of his lack of work ethic. I don't think you could say the same for Muller and Hummels.

If I was the German manager I'd have left Ozil at home

Why does he, a creative attacking midfielder, get so criticised for not "getting stuck in" and tackling etc? When do big, "no-nonsense" CB's never get criticised for not playing eye of the needle passes and dribbling around players? You can't just say it's an effort thing, because if Ozil had the ball and was refusing to try and play a pass or create a chance, that would be a lack of effort from a player in his position. But he's always trying that. His success rate for a player in his role is phenomenal, yet he's constantly criticised for not doing something he essentially isn't there for.

Modric puts in a shift each match.
Tam Rogic closes down and tracks back.
It’s the way the game is played these days - even Messi will and Suarez does as well.
Why should Ozil be exempt? Coz he’s Turkish I presume? :87:

Numbers wise in terms of distance covered Ozil is always quite high up there. He does an insane amount of running and movement off the ball to find little pockets of space. If you're expecting him to run back and make tackles that's a whole different story. You also must remember as a number 10 playing for Germany, Arsenal and used to playing for Real Madrid, three teams who are used to dominating possession, there's not many games where he has to work hard defensively because his team are always so dominant.

Not that any of this has anything to do with racial abuse or abuse because of his religion which he's been subjected to. Surely people aren't trying to say because he's sometimes perceived as lazy and a bit of "hider" in tough games that the abuse he receives is warranted?

Obviously a talented player but underachieved for a lot of his career. Riquelme was far lazier and more unprofessional than Özil, there's a reason Barca flogged him quite quickly.

Maybe so but I'd rather pay to watch a Riquelme rather than an Ozil..

Riquelme was twice the player Ozil is. Trophy count isn't always the best barometer of a player's ability.
