I notice Bunk has already cast his vote :56:

I think Maldini should have won one but Beckenbaur the only defender I think and the Russian keeper (can't mind his nickname, black cat or something) the only goalie.

Forwards mostly favoured then midfielders. But Maldini was one of the best footballers of his generation and had a consistency like Messi.

@The Prof Aye I think it's safe to say that was the best goal ever scored. Narey was raging too cause he held that title since 82 against Brazil.

Agree, he made the art of defending look so easy, i cannot remember ever seeing a player look so comfortable on the ball, composure is really important especially in a defensive position, like all the greats he had a wonderful footballing brain.

    I think Baresi was better.

Just my personal opinion, but i think Maldini learned his trade from Baresi, and then went on to be even better than the great man.

Sorry I stand corrected, you are right. Totally forgot about that Italy win. He was quite immense it has to be said.

Prof is right, Maldini was in a different league from most players in any position, like all the very best a beautiful style of play making it look effortless.

The Italians are very well renowned for their defensive qualities, it's quite amazing over so many generations too.

You don’t think Beckham deserves to be top ten? Name a better crosser of the ball and a better set piece taker.

    You can’t.
