Making the most of our set-pieces.

Whoever gets the job on a permanent basis needs to maximise our set-piece superiority. We rack up so many corners in a game compared to the opposition and rarely seem to capitalise.

There’s a real lack of invention and variety and we should be scoring a lot more goals.

In my opinion we need a coach specifically for set-plays, to scout other teams and exploit weaknesses.

Our corners are shocking.

Imagine carrying a child for 9 months, loving him, providing everything he needs to be successful, only to find out he can’t beat the first man from a corner.

Chronic.

 

You never think, this is it we’re going to score..

It’s as if Rodgers didn’t coach them. Want to see a bit of flair and invention.

 

It’s the ball these days

If anyone has played with the official ones or felt one, they have a spongy outer layer, makes them feel flat even when properly inflated.

I know this sounds ridiculous but they are a lot more difficult to swing in than the older balls, the spongy bit takes a bit off the ooomf. Every now and again if you connect just right, it’s perfect, but definitely changed nowadays.

Be aswell just restarting with an opposition goal kick than a corner to us tbh.

 

I’m pretty sure I remember him hitting the first man, getting it back & skelping it off the same man again at the second attempt

There’s loads of ways to vary corners and if you’re quick off the mark we should be able to catch out the calibre if defender who plys their trade in Scotland.

It's embarrassing how little we profit from set pieces. Not a new thing either, apart from Griffith's nobody has been capable of delivering a deadly corner/free kick.

 

Even more reason to try and change it up..

Or, be an actual professional footballer and practice more. At their level, there should be no excuse, notwithstanding my previous post

 

Thing is McGregor is woeful from cross balls, always been a weak link. And we never seem to exploit that frailty.. maybe Shved will bring some invention.

 

I cheer when the ball hits off the corner flag and goes for a throw..

That’s a good shout actually, look how much you can catch teams out with quick free kicks and quick throw-ins

If the ball boys can get it over there quick enough, rather than waiting for the centre halves to trudge up and everyone get settled, fire a quick wee pass and we’re on top of teams straight away
