The mafia, reeling from their recent defeat in TC-Upon-Clyde, after being so close to victory, have descended upon Celtsville, aiming for a brutal takeover!

However, Celtsville is a seedy little town and there will be a new role with the potential to block other roles and their actions. Introducing, the Town Prostitute. Each night, the Town Prostitute can PM me to visit a particular player, blocking that player's actions for the night (if they have any). This is done in a PM chain by stating *: [Player Name]

Further to this, the mafia can choose to visit the Town Prostitute on ONE occasion during the game. You see, the Town Prostitute knows Celtsville's residents VERY well and likes to gossip. During the night phase, the mafia can PM me to state they would like to Visit Prostitute and Discuss [Player Name].

What does this mean? This is the mafia's weapon of investigation into the town. When they visit the prostitute, they can investigate a town player and find out if the player is a Vanilla Townie or a Power Role. However, visitng the prostitute means the mafia receive a collective STD, meaning they forfeit their ability to kill on that particular night.

Format

1. A player is lynched when a majority of the remaining players have simultaneously voted against them. For example, if 15 players remained then a player would be lynched when they had 8 votes cast against them.

2. To vote against a player you must indicate your intent like this: Vote: Minty. To remove your vote you must then do the following: Unvote: Minty. You cannot change your vote until you have unvoted in the proper format. Votes will not carry over from one day to the next. You may not self-vote.

3. The first day will have a 48 hour deadline, with all subsequent day phases having a 36 hour deadline. There will be no deadline for night phases. For clarity, if the deadline is 20:00, no votes will be accepted after 20:00. If your vote is at 20:01, it is too late.

4. If no majority decision has been reached by the deadline then the day will end in a no-lynch and the game will immediately progress to the night phase.

5. Once a player has been lynched or killed their role will be publicly revealed. That player will then have no further role in the game and will need to refrain from any further posting.

6. The Doctor and Cop are free to identify themselves at any time they feel it is appropriate to do so. They are free to report any knowledge they have gained from their abilities while they are alive, but are forbidden to do so after they have been lynched or killed.

7. To avoid ambiguity and issues of timing, protection roles will always activate before killing roles, regardless of when each were sent. So if the Mafia decide to kill someone, the Doctor doesn't have to have their save sent before the Mafia in real-time for it to be successful. So long as it is within the same night phase it will be successful.

Rules

1. Nobody wants the game to be plagued by inactivity. If I feel the contribution of any player is not up to standard then they will be mod-killed. Contribution means actually focusing on the game, not making one random joke post on a given day.

2. Editing posts is forbidden to prevent anyone from removing incriminating information from the past or to attempt to assist from the grave. You'll have to leave any typos you make alone and fix errors in a second post. I will give warnings on this issue and if they continue to break this, then the players responsible will be mod-killed.

3. Quoting content from private messages with the host will result in an instant mod-kill, as will any attempt to fish for information about what communications have occurred between the host and other players.

4. Discussing this game outside of this thread, in public or private, will result in an instant mod-kill. Places this applies to includes but is not limited to other threads on this board, other forums, social media sites & chat-rooms. If you are contacted by someone playing in this game or otherwise about your role or general involvement in this game please message me about this immediately.

5. Those who are not playing in this game or have been lynched or killed are not permitted to post in this thread until the game has concluded. The exception to this is if any issues that require the presence of the moderators occur.

6. Players who have been lynched or killed are not permitted to have private discussions with other players who have been lynched or killed, just like those who remain in the game.

7. Posting statements to the effect of "I swear I am not Mafia & will delete my account if I am found to have lied" will result in an instant mod-kill.

8. Both players & lurkers are not permitted to use the "Like" feature on posts in this thread, regardless of what the content of the post is.

9. The only messaging with reference to this game that is legal are communication between the Mafia and contact with the host and only through the night phase. Members of the Town are NOT permitted to message each other or anyone else about the game.

10. For the sake of having it clear who is being voted for I am requesting that everyone cast use display names that contain their sign-in name or the name they are commonly referred to.

 

Roles

The following roles are being utilised in this game. You will all be randomly assigned to one of the following:

TOWNSPERSON, OR TOWNIE. Townies have no abilities other than to vote during the day for the player who should be lynched. The town wins when all non-town members have been killed.

MAFIA, (OR SCUM) Mafia members act like normal townspeople during the day but, at night, decide as a group who to silently kill. They are allowed to contact each other through the message chain about the game, and must notify me with their kill after deciding it during the night phase. The mafia wins when they control 50% of the town.

DOCTOR. The doctor is a townie with a special ability. At night, they may PM me one name. This person will be protected and, if the mafia tries to kill them, it will fail. The doctor can protect themselves. The doctor cannot protect the same person two nights in a row.

COP. The cop is a townie with a special ability. At night, they may PM me one name. This person will be investigated and I will reply informing them whether that person is town or mafia or brother (but not if they have a special role or specific details, just simply TOWN or MAFIA.

SAMURAI ASSASSIN. The Samurai Assassin has decided to retire in Celtsville, having moved here from rural Japan. He has seen the infiltration of the mafia in his new home, along with the decadance and has decided to take justice into his own hands. He has the night phase ability to kill a player on two occasions throughout the game.

TOWN PROSTITUTE. The Town Prostitute is a blocking role. Each night, the town prostitute can PM me the name of one player and block their actions for that night (if they have any) in order to help the town. If the prostitute successfully blocks one mafia member, all mafia actions for that night are blocked (including a mafia visit to the prostitute). However, if the prostitute blocks a non mafia, the mafia are still able to visit the prostitute.

THE HONEST MAN. The honest man role works exactly the same as the Innocent Child role, but there are no children in the decadent town of Celtsville. During any day or night phase, The Honest Man can reveal their role, publicly confirming their status as town. To reveal during the day, this player only has to post in thread and I will confirm it when I see it. If this person chooses to reveal themself during a night phase, then I will reveal their role once the next day phase begins, unless they have been successfully killed by mafia.

Win conditions:

The town win when all four mafia have been eradicated.

Mafia win when they control 50% of the town. So if there are 4 town and 4 mafia left, the mafia win.

To answer a question received via PM: The Mafia will not know the identity of the Prostitute, unless they end up investigating the prostitute and only if the prostitute does not role block the mafia on the same night.
