Celtic are keen on Barcelona midfielder Ludovic Giuly, who has also been linked to Monaco, Marseille, Newcastle and Tottenham. (The People)
Weve joined the race to sign him and will cost just over a million to get. Hes a good player and plays as a winger or 2nd striker. he his 30 which is probaly the only downside i could think of

he's getting on a bit, but i think he's been the archetyplical Pro brought up through the French system - he's still extremely fast & fit.
He can score goals, gets past defenders, puts in a good cross & has bags of experiance.
I can't remember him being much of a defender though, so the other wing might suffer due to him being such an attacking player.
Probably plays best in a 4-3-3.

It's nice to see us linked with quality players like Guilly, Gudjonsen, Appiah, but realistically I don't see any of them coming to CP.
Wages and the SPL are the major stumbling blocks, it's sad to say this, but I'm sure all the players mentioned above would rather sign for one of the smaller EPL teams than come to us.
Perhaps this is a bit of a PR campaign from the Hoops, remember when Rangers made a £20M bid for Ronaldo, great for the fans, but there was never a snowballs chance in * he was going there.
I'm sure Strachan has plenty of more realistic targets, perhaps the Delvecchio transfer is more realistic, but I would be surprised if any of the bigger names mentioned arrive at CP this summer.

A lot of players thrive on Champions League football, and Celtic can offer that. A lot of English teams cannot guarantee European football, never mind Champions League.

If a player opts for the likes of Blackburn or Villa, then you have to think it is for money only and not ambition. In that case let them go on.

but hes played with henke and he could maybe have a word with him :84:

but your right the excitement of playing in the EPL far more wages or go and play in the SPL with half the wages you would be getting in england !

it would be great if wee get wee giuly, i remember when he played for barca in the 3-1 win at CP he ripped the defence apart with his quick feet and pace. he isnt as lightening fast as he used to be, but he still has much more pace than mcgeady, riordan etc. 1.5 mill would be a bargain, and it would be a much better investment than ljunberg, who has been injured a lot for the past few seasons. heres hoping:shamrock:

Barcelona midfielder Ludovic Giuly has played down rumours linking him with a move to the Premiership insisting he is happy in Spain.

The 30-year-old winger has failed to cement a regular first-team place in the Barca squad this season, making just four starts in eight matches, and has recently been linked with a move to the Premiership, with Liverpool and Newcastle apparently keeping tabs on the player.

However, the France international says he is happy at the Nou Camp and not seeking a summer transfer and wishes to stay for the final year of his current contract.

Guily told RMC Info: "At the present time I have a contract for another year in Barcelona, and I desire to stay in Barcelona.

"I will see the directors and we will see what they offer me, since only I can decide - and I want to remain in Barcelona

I would love it if we signed him. If we did it would be a major coup.

At 1.5 Giuly would be a terrific signing. I would be very excited about this one if we signed him. Have always thought he was a top quality player. At 30 he is right at his peak now and should have another 2-3 years at least at the top left in the tank.

If he only cost 1.5m then the money we would have had to pay as a transfer fee (ie 6m for Koumas) could be used to pay his wages.
