Two patrol cars have been attacked after members of a community where a young man was shot dead by police took to the streets to demand "justice".

Dozens of protesters have gathered outside the police station on the High Road in Tottenham, north London.

It comes after a 29-year-old father-of-four, named locally as Mark Duggan, was shot dead by police on Thursday.

The Metropolitan Police said missiles were thrown at the cars, one was set alight and riot officers had been sent.

A spokesman said: "Two police officers were parked in two separate police cars on Foster Road in Tottenham, north London while on traffic patrol.

"A number of bottles were thrown at the cars. One car was set alight and the second vehicle was pushed into the middle of the High Road."

He added that neither of the officers were hurt and they had not been in the vehicles at the time.

Suprised Glasgow isnt like this tonight with chelski and the huns on the loose. My dads girlfriend came up from durham today and a cockney * was trying to be a creep to her! They were all drinking in the sir john moore. We were in Oneils in candleriggs tonight and the police van was around quite a bit but thankfully never seen anyone walking to the train station! Stayed well clear of the counting house and the new one thats opened up used to be Europa bar, seen a few lurking when I got into town

 

Trouble starting to spread over other areas according to sky.

 

Been appeals on twitter for more people to join in the attacks rival gangs etc helping each other .

 

I remember when that chap charles de menezes got shot in the face.

We all thought he was a * at first. Oh how we laughed when we found out he just had a back pack on.

In short, I bet there is more to this than a simple * shoots at police, police get destroyed.

Supermarket on fire now .

People looting shops showed you people wheeling trolleys full of stuff the street like it was the normal thing to do .

 

All do with a peaceful protest as a local was shot by police in a taxi the other day, although a police officer was shot so the dead man could have been armed also. Protest turned into mayhem when a girl was hit with a baton. Said on news a family had to flew in their pjs and came back to their house looted and destroyed only have the clothes they were standing in. Shocking IMO when innocent people have their homes/businesses destroyed. Double decker set fire to in the street and it just melted away! Hope no one innocent was injured.

So there's an exchange of fire between a guy who was illegally carrying a gun and a policeman. The criminal is shot and all of a sudden we have rioting thugs setting fire to buses and shops. Fecking disgrace.
