I was watching a documentary about Glasgow gangsters and I thought about gangsters I had heard about or seen locally. I've always been really interested in crime/gangsters and I'm not too sure why but I think a lot of people are the same. Shows like Narcos are really popular so it seems people are really intrigued by criminal * in general.

I've read books about Arthur Thompson, Paul Ferris, Tam McGraw and really enjoyed them. I grew up in Paisley so it was Grant McIntosh who was the big deal at the time, I remember seeing him as a kid and obviously didn't know who he was at the time. He had some mental guys that ran about with him in the 80s and 90s. Some crazy stories.

Just thought I would create a thread to talk about gangsters/crimes local to you that you know about or heard about.

I used to see one of the Shoukri Brothers all the time before I knew who they actually were.

Haha nobody knows me in here so I'll say what I want :101:

I remember hearing a story from a guy who was a paramedic and they got a job in Provanmill road but the ambulance broke down outside Arthur Thompson's house and he went mental, basically saying if they don't move the van he would move it for them. It wasn't until afterwords that they knew who he was. Must have been early 90s.

I've an A-Z dictionary on this stuff in Belfast. Saw Andre Shoukri about 3 weeks ago. * lives near me. Both of them played football with my mate and spoke with them a few times when out at nightclubs. Before they got too big for their boots.

Not the best idea. Wouldn't name drop or story tell in here. Wouldn't be too hard to find me in Belfast.:86:

I've never been to Belfast but I hear it's really good. I would imagine it's more mental than the likes of Glasgow and that. Most of the gangsters nowadays are just wee fannies. I prefer the old school stuff. Walter Norvall and that. They usually sorted it out with a good old square go.

Lot more criminality in Belfast since the ceasefire. Lot of organised crime by ex paramilitaries. But like any place, you need to scratch beneath the surface to notice. Unfortunately if you grow up in working class areas. These people are your neighbors and family friends.

Walter Norvall documentary was quality when i watched it years ago. Some you can just tell aren't bigging anything up for the telly or ego and he's one..

I'm sure ILTC knows him or something (he was spoken about on here before) remember right and he's a Tim :fear:

So is Ferris above. Good guy's :fear:

Aye Norvall was an old school hardman. He was in the XYY gang who did bank robberies and I'm sure they got arrested for it and they tried to blow up all the evidence and burn it. Mental, they nearly succeeded but a dog barked or something which alerted the polis.

Something about him reminded me of my grandfather, just old school nae messing about. No fear.

In a recent Peaky Blinders episode they mentioned links with the "Catholic gangs" in Parkhead, I hope they expand on that in the next series.

Stayed a few doors from Billy McPhee, close associate of Tam McGraw apparently, when I was a kid. Played football with his son as well. He was stabbed to death in the Springcroft in 2003
