CELTIC are delighted to announce that young midfielder Liam Henderson has today signed a new three-year deal at the club.

The highly-rated 17-year-old has shone for the U20s and the UEFA Youth League side this season and he made his competitive top-team bow in the 5-0 win over Motherwell last month.

Part of the first-team squad for the pre-season tour of Germany, Henderson was also one of the stand-out performers in the recent friendly against Galatasaray, when a young Celtic side emerged with great credit following a goal-less draw in Turkey.

Great News ! Now give him a chance not just go out on loan :icon_mrgreen:

Great news for random SPFL, Championship and League One clubs fans who'll get a chance to see him play on loan in the comming years...

He always looks like he's seen a ghost.

Still, the league is won, if he's good enough- play him. McGeady broke through at 17/18.

What's your problem? Loans are fantastic for a club like ours. With so many young players coming through, we can't give all of them the amount of game time they need to develop.

All of them? ALL of them? Yeah, because there are so many academy players in the first squad at the moment it's getting hard to find a place for one or two more, right? Fisher is the only one who got a few games and even that was only thanks to Lustig and Matthews having injury problems thoughout the year. Apart from Fisher, Atajić and Henderson are the only ones who played a few minutes and I think that's the whole story of our great youth prospects getting a chance to play for the first team. We play in a league where everyobody is lightyears behind, not to mention TWO cups, which is more than enough opportunities to give these lads some playing time but apparently Lennon is just to obsessed with breaking records. Not to mention some of the first team players have been pretty bad this year.

And when was the last time a loan helped any of these young players breaking into the first team? Because even when they do a great job, like for example McGregor at Notts County, Lennon tells the press how this is a great opportunity for the lad to attract interest and get a good transfer to some other club. At least he was honest regarding what these loan deals are really intended for.

Thats one of his better aspects, he has a good range of passing and set peice taking. But the way he plays the game is quite similar to Ferguson ive thought when watching him, he always wants on the ball and keeps possession well and quite a smart player.

Ferguson did have a weird looking stance when playing, looked like a pigeon or duck, the way he stuck his * and chest out :smiley-laughing002:

Little fat ugly scrunched up faced outy arsed *..

Yeah it was weird, any time he got the ball he'd immediately stick his * out as if he was protecting the ball but no * was within 20 yards of him :56:
    Then pass side the ways..

Of all the distasteful things , enemies of Celtic have said none can compare
with the fan who said young Henderson is like Barry Ferguson . Come on
you can't say worse than that . I reckon young Henderson is a great prospect
and can go on to be a great star, hopefully with Celtic. He doesn't need to be
compared to anyone , especially a Hun .

How is a 22-year old player (who'll turn 23 in a few months) who had his first team debut in the 2009/2010 season and has 9 caps for the national team considered a youth prospect?

We're talking home grown players through the academy. Do we just discard them after they have proven themselves?
