This guy will just never be a number 1 at this club. If he wants to pick up a wage from the bench (or the stand as he's now 4th choice) then fair enough but he would be better going out to an SPL side to get a game. *Has 1 year left on his current deal & at 22 he should go away & make a good career for himself but won't happen for him here.

    *See David Marshall.

You have no way of knowing that. We have barely seen the guy play and he has never had a solid run of first team games at any level. He made some solid saves against Inter the other night but other than that we haven't really seen him tested. He could be the next Gigi Buffon for all we know, or the next Max Oberschmidt :56:. Point is, we need to loan him out this year to a team thats gonna get shelled pretty good every week and see how he handles that pressure. We brought him in from Udinese at 17, clearly the club sees something in him much like O'Connell. Never had a chance but was never released and now thats he's gotten a first team run he's been phenomenal, no reason why Fasan can't replicate that if given the oppurtunities. Again, being a GK we need to loan him out to see what he's made of, but I think he's going to be a piece of our future here.

He's 22 now. Needs to go out on loan and play regular football.

Is this his chance to stake a place in the team?

No, unfortunately. He's not seen enough first team action to know if he can handle It yet, which is down to shocking action by management, both this year and last year. Should've been loaned out by Deila and now this year. How are we ever going to develop him if he's in the stands every week.

To be fair when we've put young goalkeepers into the side in the past they've done quite well, Stewart Kerr and David Marshall come to mind.

He's done nothing to suggest he should be near the first team.

He should be loaned somewhere where he'd be first choice GK or sold. Right now he's 4th choice, no future here, and no need for him to waste his time waiting.

We are delighted to announce the signing of Leonardo Fasan from Celtic on loan until the end of the season, subject to EFL and international clearance.

The 23 year-old has been a regular feature in the Celtic Under-23 side and was key to the young Hoops winning their fifth domestic league title in 2014.

The Italian is highly regarded at Celtic Park and has appeared on the first team bench on several occasions during his development.

The goalkeeper is looking to get some first team games under his belt to continue with that and we are happy to welcome him to Port Vale.

Standing at 6'2 the 'keeper will now link up with his new team mates at Vale Park.

Fasan will now battle it out with Ryan Boot and Harry Pickering for the number one jersey in Michael Brown's side.

CELTIC can confirm that goalkeeper Leo Fasan has joined English League One side Port Vale on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has been on the fringes of the Celtic first team in recent years after an impressive spell for the Development Squad.

He has seen involvement for the first team in a number of friendlies, including the first match of the Brendan Rodgers era against NK Celje during the pre-season tour of Slovenia. The Italian also played the second half of the Bhoys' International Champions Cup clash with Barcelona in Dublin.

Fasan joined the Celtic Youth Academy in 2010 following a successful trial period and he signed a new three-year deal with the club in August 2014.

Everyone at Celtic would like to wish Leo all the best for his time at Port Vale.
