He was poor last night no doubt about it. We wouldn't be in the CL though if it wasn't for his home performance.

An away day for Celtic, never a stroll in the park.

Without Griff's goals, we wouldn't be in the CL :31:

:50: Spot on. His goals have been crucial in us qualifying to. Big goals in big moments in big games. Some people are just so stubborn they wont admit they were wrong and any below par performance is used as a stick to beat him with.

Games like last night don't suit him. We were sitting back and looking to get the ball forward quickly whenever we won it back, which meant some long balls.

Dembele is the man for that. He has the height, strength and speed to cause defenders problems.

At home in Europe, Griffiths and Dembele should be starting. Away from home against good teams, I reckon Dembele might be the lone striker.

I was one of his biggest doubters at first, he has however shown that not only he can score goals but that he is an intelligent player as well. Think he could become a £10+ mil striker for us. Least of my worries.

Long term I think we are looking at that scenario.

    So naive.

Top strikers want $$$ in the top leagues, hence why we have had one in the past 12 years.

There may be better options out there but you want someone who's fast, can dribble, hold up the ball, finish, target man, good in the air, dead ball chip marksman - They come at a premium, my friend.

It's a doddle to get those players on FIFA, just set the transfer setting to easy.

Still don't think he's better than Hooper, who scored good goals in the Champions League proper, until Griff does that he'll be behind Hoops.
But you cannot fault Griffiths' work rate or goal record.

He tried last night with * all service, couldn't hold it up but he's not a target man, should have had Dembele along side him but Rodgers (understandably) shat it, went negative and went one up top.

Wanyama has a point he is not the perfect striker. He is priceless though and will continue to improve

Different players. Hooper would not have banged in that header or free kick last week.

I reckon he will get a couple in the group stage. He has too many different goals in his locker not to.

Well here's griffiths chance. The hooper debate will finally be settled. We all know griffiths is better in the spl. Hooper would not score 30 in a * hibs team. Now the question is can he raise it up a full level vs real Madrid etc. Thank * we'll find out. Yaaasssss

Aye, every Celtic manager since O'Neill must sit back at night and wish they just went out and brought in a ready made top striker instead of messing about with guys like Killen, Hutchison, Bangura, Scepovic for the craic..

I actually agree, to some extent, with your mans reasoning. I want better than Griff up top as well, Higuain would be grand.

The sooner he understands the restraints we are dealing with, the better.

He will score in the Champions League, I have zero doubts about that.

I'm sorry but with all due respect that's nonsense.

Hooper bagged 20 goals for a * relegation fighting Scunthorpe side at 21 years old in the English Championship (A level much tougher than the SPFL and that Griffiths has never played at).

Hooper was 2nd top goal scorer in the Championship that season. I'm pretty certain he would score goals galore for any team in Scotland. In fact I'm positive he would. A phenominal and clinical poacher in the box in front of goal. With the overall game to match it.
