Incredible how we were crying out for a right back last season and now this lad is our fourth choice.

The lad took a big leap to leave united and go to a new club etc. You have to give the lad time to settle in Glasgow and in and around the squad. I'd have him training with the first team. I would have him ahead of Bauer at this stage so if elhamed is out no reason O'Connor can't get at least game time from the bench against weaker opposition in league.. his ability to cover right back , left back , defensive mid and centre half has to make him a valuable asset on the bench. That said duff made it clear last week as a pundit before the new Zealand game that he is seen by the management as very much a rb

Its exactly what he needs. He is not going to get a first team game with us, which is exactly why he should go on loan and develop.
Loans helped the development of players like Ajer, Rogic, Christie, Mcgregor and Griffiths over the years.
at his age he needs games most importantly, and exposure to first team football. even Aitchison seems to be benefitting from a loan spell away.

Maybe in the summer or maybe in January. Still I'd like to see him given time to actually settle at the club before we send him to his third club in a very short time.

Serious question, what do you think he could reasonably achieve here this season?

do you reasonably expect him to get a game at right back with El Hamed and Frimpong competing?

Settle in to a new city and club, improve in training, train consistently with the first team and I do think he can get game time from time to time.

Looks like he'd be good on the right of a back 3 and I would honestly give him little run outs when subbing Broony in the 6 for now..

In fairness from last night's interview it seems he's anxious to get away in January ..

Loan deal may work for him..

Would like to see him get a flavour for the SPL or League 1/Championship in England.

    Don't think we'll be buying Bauer.. :56:

I suspect the emergence of Pong and Lee, plus the form of ElHam, would signal the end of Bauer's loan.
We have him for season or till Jan?

Bauer has experience tho, would rather loan out O’Connor in January for him to get the game time. Would be risky relying on two young RBs who have only played a handful of senior games between them.. if Elhamed is out for a lengthy spell..

Both are very exciting prospects tho.

I’d send him to somebody like Hamilton, somewhere nearby, in close contact with ourselves, wouldnt need to move again and plays in our league.

Belter of a shout mate, have they not got a RB that they’re pushing for a Scotland call up just now though?

Think with Hamilton it’d be similar to Ajer at Killie. Guarenteed gametime in difficult conditions

I * hate them as well but he’s guarenteed a game and he’d still settle in, in Glasgow.

Canny mind, there was a Motherwell fan on SSB raging about it :56:

in what scenario? He has two ahead of him. He would have to be extremely fortunate with injuries affecting those at 1 and 2. Players get bought and sent out on loan all the time. It will be more damaging to his career not to play first team games..

Bit of talk doing the rounds that he may be going out on loan this window.
