Ajer is a player who could easily walk into our team just now never mind 2 years or so down the line, he is a ball playing centre back, yeah ok hes been played in midfield as of late but he can easily take over boyata's place. deila wants to have a defender who can play football hes had van dijk and tried to mould simonovic into that but he gets caught out far to much. keep him back and let Ajer come in and play that, coming out the back with the ball he will easiy improve our side and the potential sell on clause like the boardroom are wanting is huge

    He's a midfielder.

    Without question.

He's not a central defender. If anything he's made a move farther forward, even playing as a CF once I can remember when they were short. He's mostly a CM, has played in an attacking midfield role quite often, and also as a designated DM, although Start rarely play that way and he doesn't get that opportunity to play as he would here. I don't know where/when you've seen him as a CB. That's not to say it's impossible, just that it isn't playing to his strengths and would require a ton of work. It would also be nullifying some of his better attributes.

Lol with his goal scoring record and RD seemly to like 6ft+ players leading the line I wouldn't be surprised if he brings him in to play up front!!

From the little I've seen of him, he should get a decent amount of chances for us from day 1, and could be a pillar within 1-2 years.
    Plus, imagine the resell value!
It'll be a true jizzfest if this happens.

    From Norwegian coverage today:

-We have been scouting him for a while, along with PSG, Arsenal and Spurs
-On Sunday he was set to stay at Start at least until the summer
-We called yesterday and asked if he wanted to come over and train - he left the same day.
-His stay here is as much about him getting an impression of the club as it is about us getting a closer look at him.
    - The board at Starts wants to sell because they need the money "We would obviously like compensation the day he leaves. Something could happen this window"
    - Start manager not commmenting

Sounds like we might have a chance. Never seen the boy play can only go on what Ive read about him and also FM:52:. Hopefully Ronny can sway him towards signing.

No doubt he could play anywhere through the middle. Tall, strong, technically good, a leader and still young. I'll * PL if he gets this through even though I hate the * guts.

What's the point in this deal?
He won't play, he was that good he wouldn't need a trial and would be linked with all sorts,

He's not bring supporters back to the stadium.

A 17yr old isn't gonna save ronnys job

He's very highly rated, he is linked with all sorts and it's not really a trial as such, it's us trying to persuade him we're a viable option.

Just watched a few videos of him on Youtube. Hes the type you'll see playing for a Juventus or Milan in a few years. Looks solid, good on the ball, decent passer. Really hope we sign this * noo.

This is the first remotely exciting and realistic transfer rumour we had since Deila was signed. I usually would be cautious but at this point I don't care anymore, sign him, give him the lowest shirt number available and play him for 90 minutes against Stranraer. I don't know when this will happen again.

Would love this to happen but as others have said he will go on trial with others next and end up in the reserves of a good team in one of the top leagues

Think the difference between this and the Odegaard situation is the scale of it. Odegaard is basically already a superstar in Norway, this boy is being touted as the next, so hopefully we can stick our name in early and impress him and his da.

Odergaard, in terms of development rather than career and money made a massive mistake rotting at Real Madrid B. He would be better off in a club where he could start regularly.
