    UP front, Duncan Ferguson deadly.

More versatile than Virgil van Dijk at the back.

Kris Ajer has everything required to go the top of football, according to team-mate Leigh Griffiths.

The big 21-year-old Norwegian was outstanding at Fir Park.

eil Lennon asked him to do a job at right-back and Ajer didn’t put a foot wrong at either end of the park.

Griffiths said: “Big Kris Ajer strolled it from right-back

“He was like big Duncan Ferguson the way he scored. It was such a composed finish.

“But the sky is the limit for the big man.

He can play centre-back, right-back, he’s so composed and so good. For such a young lad, the world is at his feet.

“He can go all the way as long as he keeps his feet on the ground.

“He’s different class and didn’t put a foot wrong against Motherwell here.

“Does he remind me of Van Dijk? Yeah, but I don’t think Virgil would have been happy to play at right-back, whereas the big man just strolls up the flank.

It’s like four or five strides and he’s in the penalty box from our half.

“He’s so fit and athletic going forward and, as we saw, he can play right-back and it doesn’t bother him a bit.”

Ajer is fast becoming a big character in the Celtic dressing room too.

Griffiths added: “When he first arrived he wasn’t as chirpy as he is now.

“He’s got a bit of banter about him. He looks the part and gives as good as he gets. People tell him to wind his neck in because he’s got such a long neck but he takes it well.”

Hoops boss Neil Lennon was thrilled with the team display and, like Griffiths, highlighted Ajer’s all-action performance.

He said: “I wouldn’t like to make comparisons with Van Dijk because he’s the best defender in the world.

“If Kris wants to aspire towards that then brilliant.

“He is playing so consistently and I don’t think he’s missed a minute of any league game for me.

“It’s not ideal asking him to play at right-back because we’ve had to change the back four. But it shows his quality. He doesn’t just fill in and get by, he’s outstanding.

“Overall we’re in a good place at the minute.

Aye that was a poorly judged comparison :56:

Plus Ajer strolled from defence playing a one two and slotting it away comfortably with his right, so nothing like that big * :giggle1:

He is outstanding. Could play him in any position and he will excel, he can go to the very top like Virgil imo.

The big man is a future captain. No doubt about it.

Already showing strong leadership qualities at 21 and has the talent to back it up. Could be here for however long he wants.

Thank * he's here tbh. Someone to build the defence around for potentially the next 10+ years. Whoever scouted him needs a payrise.

so you saying it wasn't a penalty? he clearly clipped their player but nothing was said cause he went on to be the the best player on the park. Are you still pretending to be a Celtic fan?because you slagging off Neil Lennon must mean you're a hun
