Just seen Kris interview from yesterday and I really think he could retire in the summer, he said if there is a deal then fine and if he has to stop then he will look at something else

Seems pretty clear he's going to remain in Glasgow. I can only see him going to Hibs or Aberdeen. Would be a monumental signing for either.

KRIS COMMONS admits his six trophy-laden years at Celtic have been beyond his wildest dreams.

The former Scotland star said goodbye to the fans as the Hoops lifted the Premiership trophy after the 2-0 victory over Hearts.

Commons, 33, will leave when his contract expires this summer, having not played for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season with only Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final to come.

Despite being a bystander this term, he has cherished every minute of a Celtic career that brought him five league titles, one League Cup and two Scottish Cup medals.

He said: “In the last 12 months I’ve been a Celtic fan and they’ve been a joy to watch.

“I wish them all the world in the future, it was a very emotional day but I think what’s happening right now, it’s never been better to be a part of Celtic.

“It’s been frustrating not to play but the truth is I’ve had four back injections and that’s been a sticking point, I’ve not been fit enough to play.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed these last six years, it’s been beyond my wildest dreams.

“The emotions we’ve played through, the games we’ve played in and it’s a massive thanks to everyone who welcomed me from day one and gave me the chance to play a role.”

Commons played in the unforgettable Champions League victory over Barcelona at Parkhead in 2012, but his highlight was the 3-0 win over Kazakh side Shakhter Karagandy in August 2013.

His opener sparked the comeback from a 2-0 first-leg defeat and secured a place in the Champions League group stages.

He said: “It would be easy to pick out the Barcelona game when we beat them, that was probably the peak of the games we played at that time.

“But scoring the goal that actually got us into the Champions League, the Shakhter goal, as a team and for Neil Lennon and everything that was happening that week, we were so determined to put it right.

“How it all unfolded, that was one of the most memorable games I’ve ever been involved in.”

Commons is hoping eventually to move into a coaching career but insists he still plans to pull on the boots next season.

The midfielder has been linked with a return to Hibs after scoring two goals for them during a month-long loan at the turn of the year.

Easter Road boss Lennon is desperate to take the midfielder back there on a permanent deal.

Commons added: “If I’m able and fit enough, I want to carry on playing.

“I don’t think anyone wants to call it quits.

“I’m going to leave my options open.

“At the minute I’m feeling fit and fresh but I’m going to go away with the family for a deserved break.

“I’m not really going to think about football or getting fit, I can actually try and enjoy my time with my family and make the next plan.

“I’ve pretty much decided that I’m going to be living in Glasgow from now on.

“I’ve got three beautiful children who are all Celtic daft and they’re not even getting out of bed without putting a Celtic strip on.

“I think I’m going to be involved for some time to come.

“I’m hoping, now that I’ve passed my B-licence in my coaching, that I can go on to start passing on my expertise, my memories and also my experiences.”

Looks like he's playing in the Henrik V Lubo game.

One of my favourite players in recent times. Lifted Lennon's side when he arrived and continued to score goals over the next couple of years.

If he decides not to carry on playing, I hope Celtic involve him in the youth coaching set-up in some capacity.

I think he's also the type of guy who would come across well as a pundit on TV, if he wants to do that. Certainly more articulate and likable than Kris Boyd & co.

He's been a great player for the club. The best bargain since Henrik.

Never been his biggest fan, but I truly appreciate everything he's done for us, and know he loves the club.

Emotional day on so many levels today.

Would happily have him back in a coaching capacity if he's up to the job.

A real cult hero. Never the hardest working but I'll never forget how much graft he put in when we beat Barca.

Love it. There's something special about guys who turn up here without any connection to the club and leave it not only as fans, but part of the Celtic family. Kris and his family will be welcomed back to Celtic Park with open arms anytime.
