28 goals this season so far in all competitions and our player of the year, approaching 31 at the end of august and a player whos never been the quickest what do we do with him?

Ultimately he's no good enough for Europe, not quick enough, not sharp enough and lacks a killer first touch. If we have any plans of doing anything in Europe then we need to sign a guy that can play commons role better than him we all know this.

But what do we do with commons, if we sign this player for Europe where does he fit in the team? Yes hes a great spl player and will be good at that level but he wont be starting and if hes not starting having a guy at 31 sitting on the bench is a spot we could have for guys like callum mcgregor or other young players in that role -rogic and mcgeouch (all be it whos celtic careers look over).

So do we sell commons in the summer and get as much money as we can for a players whos going to be worth nothing in two or three years?

Not many of our players are good enough for Europe.

    Overrated.

He's quite a good player who has scored a crazy amount of goals this season, but his all round play leaves a lot to be desired. I'd take £2/3 million for him, providing we get Snodgrass.

Yes sell our top scorer and poty as hes not the player whos going to do anything outside the spl and hes only getting older, selling him this summer will allow us to get a decent amount of money that can be reinvested in our squad.

He's been an integral part of our squad for the vast majority of his time here. How anyone can call him overrated is baffling to say the least!

His experience will be crucial next season in the CL, especially for the likes of Johansen and Griffiths who will be new to it. He may not set the group stages on fire but he's a great player to have in the qualifiers. And who's to say he won't be just as good in the group games? Two seasons ago he, along with the majority of the squad, was excellent and played a big part in getting us to the last 16.

For the OP to say he hasn't got a killer first touch or not sharp enough is pure nonsense. He's one of, if not them most intelligent player in the squad footballing wise along with Stokes and Virgil imo. He may not be quick, but pace has never been a strength of his and it's never held him back, has it?

I'd take Snodgrass over him any day. Still a very good player though domestically.

The thing is he does in fact have A LOT of off days in the league too, but not many people notice this because he always seems to come up with goods, even when playing pish.

He has saved us quite often this season because of that, so he's worth keeping for that reason alone!

I disagree we have a good enough goalkeeper, midfield and starting back 4 for europe its only in the attacking areas we seem to be lacking.

His experience wasn't crucial this season, Johansen has played internationals for Norway and im hoping griffiths wont be starting upfront anyway

I'm not sure what "not good enough for europe" means.... because almost the same group of players can beat Barcelona, Spartak Moscow away from home and Ajax too, also reach the last 16 of the CL...... yet are still branded not good enough for Europe.

Enough of that, the bottom line is that under no circumstances should he be sold this summer.

Two caps hardly equates to a season in the CL, does it? We need players who have been there and done it before, especially in the qualifiers. Commons amongst other players brings this experience to the team. If you don't think it was crucial, then I suggest you take a look at the Elfsborgs and Karagandy games. Yes, it was opposition we should have been beating comfortably but the way it turned out, it was thanks to players like Commons and others that we came through those games successfully in the end and qualified.

Folk are seriously underestimating the benefit of having Commons in the team.

A dilemma right enough. Right up there with "should I rip up my winning jackpot lottery ticket?"

I'd wager we should keep our best player and the person voted the best player in our country only yesterday.

But that's just me, always taking crazy gambles! :50:

    Dear lord.

Having a killer first touch and being sharp is not the same as being one of the most intelligent players in the squad im not disputing his intelligence at all. However if you actually watched the amount of times the ball gets played into him and his first touch is not on point then you will see what im talking about and in terms of being sharp, he is too slow to turn and allows for the opposition to get organised.
