Probably not any injury, it will just be general pain from over playing and over training. Tierney plays and probably trains like a madman, always up and down the park chasing and getting tore into everything and he plays pretty much every minute of every game when he's fit. So sore ankles, knees, clalves etc just mount up as they are barely ever rested or allowed to recover between games until he's probably in pain before he even goes to training or play a match but just gets on with it.

A lot of sport injuries or pain come from people compromising on how they move to deal with pain in general they have that causes them to move differently or shift their balance to manage pain. Thats maybe how his hip pain has came about, he may lean or something to one side as his left calf is in more pain than his right and over time it leads to pain in the hip and it all piles on from each other.

A big problem for Celtic players now is they have too much games, over the last 4 seasons I wouldn't be surprised if we had played more games than any other team in Europe and in addition to that our players barely get a summer break either, they only get 4ish weeks off in the summer, thats hardly enough to recover from 11 month of near constant playing and training and maintaining near top fitness. They also don't really get to relax as they have to be fit very quick, so it's not like they get to sit on their arses and put a stone on and then come back and get back up to fitness they are probably expected back to pre season in good fitness because we can draw Swedish and Nowegian and whoever teams who are mid season as early as the 2nd round.

Even Man City players for example can get 7 weeks off in the summer as they don't have real games until mid August. That could be 5 weeks of total relaxation and recovery then 2 weeks of dieting and light training to slim down a bit before going back to training, our players probably only get 2-3 weeks of relaxing which is near useless.

To compare us to Ajax, since Rodgers came in we have played 36 games more than them and every season they have finished their season before us and not had their first game of the season for 2+ weeks after us. They are essentially playing 12 games a season less than us and then getting an extra 3 weeks break in the summer.

I know we need him in there but if he’s not 100% fit then we can’t risk playing him

Kieran Tierney faces a battle to be for to play for Celtic against at Parkhead on Sunday.

Neil Lennon today confirmed the hugely influential left-back, who missed Scotland's European Championship qualifying double-header against Kazakhstan and San Marino with a calf injury, will be assessed.

The Celtic manager confirmed: "Kieran has had a bit of a reaction today and may be a doubt. We will have to assess him tomorrow.

"It is the same issue and we will leave it maybe as late as possible to see how it is.

He looked uncomfortable so we will give it 24 hours to see how it goes."

If he looked uncomfortable then play Hayes at left back or go maybe 3-5-2

    Bain

    Boyata Ajer Benkovic

    Forrest McGregor Brown Ntcham Sinclair

    Edouard Burke

I'd go with that but Hayes in for ntcham.
Although that line up looks scary going forward. Maybe too attacking though for the high tempo of the game and those animals kicking everything above grass

Meanwhile, Lennon’s preparation for this weekend’s game have been hindered by a fresh injury concern for Kieran Tierney.

The Scotland internationalist was expected to make the game after returning from early from international duty last week. Tierney did not play against Kazakhstan and flew back to Glasgowrather than go on to San Marino with the rest of the squad but after initially feeling that the fullback would make the game, Lennon has revealed there have been fresh concerns over his ongoing pelvic and hip issue.

Tierney missed two months of the season with the same complaint and returned to action only at the end of February. He had looked uncomfortable in Celtic’s last outing against Dundee at Dens Park and Lennon has confirmed that there are ongoing concerns about his situation.

unwilling to rule Tierney out entirely, Lennon will give the player another 24 hours before making a decision but in the long-term he will look to rest him as much as he can between now and the end of the season.

“Tierney had a bit of a reaction on Friday,” said Lennon. “He looked a bit uncomfortable and we will have to wait and see how he is. He probably needs a rest. We’ll try and get him over the line as quickly as possible and shut him down for a while.

“I’m not ruling him out, but it didn’t look great on Friday morning. We’ll see. It’ll be judged by the medical team as well.”
