Serious Question- IF this supposed interest is real and followed up in January with a concrete offer from one of the big guns, what sort of fee are we likely to command for him, given his fleeting appearances thus far?

Lets hope he has good people around him and he has a good head on his very young shoulders as there will be a lot of pressure pushed on him. But there is no question and I say this yes as a Celtic supporter but genuinely when you look at the career paths of players like Tierney, Dembele Van Dijk and Wanyama as you say it is clear that playing and establishing yourself as a big player at Celtic is what is best for your career long term. You will get the opportunities here and then if moving to a richer league is what a player wants to do then Celtic is the perfect platform for that.

Jonny Hayes and Lewis Morgan are getting game time.

    There’s no reason Dembele shouldn’t.

There is some truth/wisdom in the post.
That said, isn't Dembele more of a right sided player??

It’s weird because Hayes and Morgan are several years older and have a lot more experience. Dembele is 16 and his body and mind are still developing, and he’s played very little first team football.

The issue with Dembele getting game time clearly isn’t ability, which is what he’s intimating.

KARAMOKO DEMBELE has chosen to play for England instead of Scotland — for now.

SunSport understands the 16-year-old Celtic starlet has decided that his international future lies with England.

It means Dembele, who made his Hoops debut at the end of last season, will now turn out for the Three Lions youth sides.

Dembele had been playing for Scotland and England’s Under-16s and Under-17s.

Earlier this week he scored as England Under-17s drew 2-2 with Spain and he also featured in two other games during the international break.

Now it’s believed he will no longer turn out for Scotland and instead head south to play for their national sides.

It’s thought Hampden chiefs reluctantly respect and accept his decision.

But with England being able to choose from such a big talent pool, Scotland are still hopeful Dembele could alter his decision at some stage in the future if his chances become restricted.

Dembele would need to make a competitive appearance for England’s senior team to see him committed to the Three Lions for the rest of his career.

Until that happens he would still be able to switch to Scotland.

Dembele was born in London to parents from the Ivory Coast and was just one when his family moved to Glasgow.

It’s thought the English FA rolled out the red carpet to convince Dembele to play for them.

The teenager impressed after Hoops boss Neil Lennon sent him on as sub in a 2-1 victory over Hearts the final league game of last season.

He was linked with PSG, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund this month and was also named on an elite list of rising stars in European football.

    French publication
L’Equipe named Dembele as one of six kids in their ‘Wonders of European Football’ series.

He first hit the headlines two years ago when he made his debut for Celtic’s development team at the age of just 13.

    * for Scotland (don't care) but potentially better for us (do care)

No doubt some will be use this as a stick to beat him with.

Brought to you by the same folk who didn't give a monkeys when young Scots chose South Africa or Canada when being overlooked by Scotland. Don't choose Ireland though...

Best decision for his career, bodes well for him making the decision to stay at Celtic and get games, European experience and moving on years down the line.

There will be less pressure on him playing for England while here as they have a lot of young rising talents just now, only thing it does is interest a lot of English clubs to try and snap him up.

Just hope he’s still got his head screwed on and stays here for a few seasons to become a regular starter. Hopefully see a lot more of him now he’s back from injury.

He’s English.... so play for England.

Id rather see the rules tightened up so there’s no debate and no options because your granny’s dog was a highland Terrier.

Scotland needs players desperate to play for Scotland because that’s their country.. not the best option.

I think smaller national sides would benefit if things were more rigid.
