Seen that we are in poll position to do so, he wants to stay.

Hopefully it stays that way because he is exceptional.

Hopefully we’re pointing out the likes of Feruz and even Odegaard going to Real.

    Get a proper footballing education.

Brendan Rodgers has promoted Karamoko Dembele into his first team training plans.

The 15-year-old is the hottest teenager in European football and can sign a professional contract in February when he turns 16

Rodgers is well aware of interest in Dembele from elsewhere with the midfielder a regular England internationalist as well as turning out for Scotland.

In September 2016 he became headline news when he enjoyed a 10 minute appearance in the Development League against Hearts but new rules for the Reserve League prevent anyone under 16 from playing in matches.

Dembele looks like bypassing the Reserve League and is expected to be part of the Celtic squad that travels to Dubai for warm weather training next month.

No one at Celtic is taking anything for granted with Rodgers leading the efforts to ensure that Dembele signs a professional contract with the club he began training with at the age of nine.

The first match after Dembele’s 16th birthday is the SPFL home match with Motherwell on February 24.

Rodgers said a while back that he already had the talent to play with first team players, but it was about looking after him. I wonder if he’ll be spotted on the bench once he turns 16.

Seldom works to your advantage, pampering and treating certain players diffrent to curry favour ,I would respect the wee man more to be asked to be treated the same as the other lads ,we will turn him into a spoilt player with a bad attitude if he even stays ,guess we have to trust the manager here but it is not wot you want to hear tbh ,it's been this way since he came ive been hearing .

Maybe he's special and deserves to be treated as such. No point treating him the same and then losing him, because we didn't give him what he needs.

I do take your point tho at 16 he still has to learn a lot..tricky one. However if there's one thing BR knows it's how to develop young talent.

You’ve heard wrong. He’s been treated no different than any other player other than the fact his talent is pushing him further in his development than the others. He goes to St Ninians and follows the same curriculum as every other young lad of 15; training and everything else into the bargain.

It would be remiss of Rodgers not to give him opportunities that his ability warrants.

In response to both jc a and Paul m ,I can understand the pushing talent on rather than stagnate them by moving them up a level or 3 , but regards my earlier comment im hearing he has been treated as a special case and pampered more so than other young players ,I feel if he gets treated the same you get a more humble and rounded player .but then its second hands info im getting and cant be trusted 100% .

That's Feb is it not when he turns 16?

I don't think he is getting too pampered though, taken out to Dubai in January makes sense if his talent is as good as we are mean to believe, we would expect him to be in the first team squad soon. So up to full speed with the full team makes perfect sense in January if he is going to be potentially on the bench and getting game time in February.

So long as we aren't dotting gifts on him or actually promoting him above and beyond other deserved talent. Though I don't imagine we are and have no word that we are.

Exciting times. The boy is clearly exceptionally talented, although when he's 16 it's down to him how his career goes.

That's what Rodgers will be telling him - it's one thing being good enough to get a pro contract on thousands/week, but he'll only get one of those contracts if he has the wrong approach and doesn't work hard. If he applies himself and listens to Brendan as well as staying around for a few years here then the sky is the limit for him.

I wish I wasn't such a pessimist, but can see him off to Man City, Chelsea, etc to vanish into the promising youth loan cycle.

He will have had contact from wealthier clubs before now. He clearly sees his immediate future at Celtic.

Stick him on against the Huns.

A 15 year old scoring a hat-trick against them would sign off the banter years.

Why would we treat every player the same when they aren't all the same?
