I think you have to look at consistency, though. In Europe that's a red all day long, I totally agree. In the SPL on the other hand, if that's a red, we need a new colour for some of the shocking assaults on our players. Like that Aberdeen * with previous who deliberately elbowed a 19-year-old kid (Tierney) with full force and somehow stayed on the pitch.

Ofcourse you want it, but because you want it doesnt make it a red

There wasnt near enough contact nor was it intentional his eyes where on the ball! I can see why it may have been given by the ref but not the linesman

Consistency is always the main issue with officiating mate.

For me it needs to be a full time occupation with training on all aspects of the modern game. An academy where they can work on tactics, fitness, player communication etc.. also think we should be able to hear them like they have in rugby there's no transparency at the moment.

With what's at stake in some of these games it has to be the next step in conjunction with VAR..

Think it's crazy huge matches are officiated by part-timers.

If you take Sun, although I think the red card was the correct decision, Collum was dire overall.

A ref academy would surely raise the overall standard.

Seems to be going down in my estimations every week, he's a different player from last season. I don't know if it's a confidence issue or that but how long do we give him?
I know he just signed a new 5 year contract but I would be tempted to punt in the summer if we get a decent offer, he also can't play in artificial surfaces which is a must in scotland unfortunately.

There’s clearly no changing your mind but you’re in the (vast) minority.

Almost everyone agrees he was stupid to leave it open for interpretation whilst on the same hand almost everyone agrees it didn’t warrant a straight red.

I think he knew exactly what he was doing. He's actually done a marker on a few people with his elbow this season, Lafferty being the most obvious one at Celtic Park..

I don't mind it but you don't do it right in front of a Hun loving * official a few feet away and the biggest drama queen ugly rasbo ever to play in Scotland..

Be interesting to see if Brendan drops him this season now because he could've cost us the game..

Going by the laws of the game, elbowing your opponent in the face (accidentally or not) comes under violent conduct, which is a red card offence. It was the correct decision.

That's a tad black and white.

There's a difference between elbowing a person on purpose (straight red), to accidentally elbowing a player (which comes under the referee's opinion as to whether or not he meant it).

Simunovic's was not pre-meditated, rather just * clumsy and unfortunate he gave them the option of the call, which rats like that * linesman tory * were only to happy to get their wee hun knickers in a twist over...

I said it before, I don't think Simunovic meant it, but he still did it. Douglas Ross obviously got a big hun * over it, but I think most officials would have given it as a red.

And by the laws of the game shirt pullings a foul but you don’t see 20 penalties giving a game at every corner.

It’s the interpretation of the rules that’s important, intents a massive part of it.

Your example actually highlights a big flaw in how the rules are applied.

I don’t think it’s a flaw. I don’t think football can be ruled in black and white without ruining the game.

Fair point. I still think the majority of officials would give a red for Simunovic's moment of idiocy though.

But they're still penalties, however 'soft'..

He wasn't going up for a challenge in the air where he could be discreet. He was running along with his arm straight out by that flids coupon and although it was ridiculously milked, he still made contact with his elbow in what I'd call an unnatural position at head height. If you're running and trying to shield the ball usually the arm would be lower and at maybe chest height..

He gave them the option to send them off. That’s the real problem for me. I think it was extremely soft and Morelos’s reaction is what got him sent off rather than the incident itself.

And like I said to you the other day, there's a difference between actually elbowing somecunt, to some rotten faced we * milking an accidental elbow whilst both men were chasing the ball.

Like I say, the elbow is one of the hardest parts of the body - you put any conviction into elbowing somecunt in the face/mouth, and the very least they are walking away with is a burst mouth, the worst probably a disclocated/broken jaw - Morelos had neither of these.

You're right mate its the hardest area of the body...

Doesn't take much for an elbow to look bad or cause damage. When you take rugby where anything above the neck is penalised an elbow to the face is defo going to warrant a red and rightly so.

It wasn't as if Simunovic was trying to gain leverage to challenge for a high ball they were practically running beside one another and he tries to get in front of him.

Only he will know how deliberate it was but right away I thought red, no complaints..

What can't be excused is the * the wee Tory Hun had in awarding the decision. Red card red card red it's a red red red!
