He might want more security than a one year deal. Prob the last decent contract of his career. Some championship club will give him 3 years for prob the same money as he's getting the now.

I have a feeling he'll start on the wing in front of Boli against the huns.

I like JH, never afraid to step in & will run all day for us. He’s one of them though who can an off day but we know he’s tried his best for us.

Celtic are running the risk of losing Jonny Hayes, with several English Championship sides now on his trail.

The reliable Republic of Ireland international is out of contract at the end of the season and manager Neil Lennon is keen to see that deal extended.

But the 32-year-old now has strong interest from England and can open pre-contract talks from January 1.

Championship sides Preston, Middlesbrough, Stoke and Cardiff are all keen on Hayes.

Lennon had expected Celtic to open talks over a new deal more than 10 days ago but the champions have still to speak to Hayes or his agent.

The Irishman has never hidden his desire to remain at Parkhead but would also be open to a return to England.

He came through the ranks at Reading before he headed north and made his name with Inverness and Aberdeen. He got his dream move to Celtic in 2017.

Hayes has been used mostly at left-back under Lennon this term.

Hope he gets a new deal. Jonny is a massively useful and vastly underrated player for us and could be essential in the run in.

Hope he comes back after the break fully fit and in contention for plenty of first team action.

Would rather have him in the team than Boli at the minute.

We need to stop stockpiling substandard players.

I suspect he will be thinking its his last chance at a contract and its doubtful Celtic will offer him anything long-term.
If any of these interested parties are prepared to pay a fee now, we should take it.
Even if Sinclair leaves as expected, we still have 4 decent left sided players, MJ, Ely Boli and Taylor.

Won't be surprised to see him go but he's a useful player to have in the squad.

This. Especially if we play a 3-5-2 more often

I would give him a shot at wide left. His natural position.

Hes a great squad player to have round, infact might be our best lb at the moment so I'd definitely want us keep him.

Good honest pro, we know he's not the most technically gifted player, but gives it his all, plenty of others would love tae see go before him tbh.

Exactly prof there is at least half a dozen I would be shifting on before Hayes!

    Hendry
    Morgan
    Kouassi
    Sinclair
    Miller
    Gordon

    just for starters!

Unfortunately, we'll struggle to get rid of substandard players full stop, let alone in any particular order.

He was poor tonight, passed back mostly, offered little going forward.
Understand Lennon likes him but we got to do better, surely Taylor or Boli would be better options?

He's just a workhorse, lacks any quality in the final 3rd but solid enough defensively. Would of rathered Taylor played but guess he's giving them both a chance ahead of Boli.
