John Park

Question....................

There were rumours going about that when Tony Mowbray was in charge he did not listen to John Park's recommendations when signing players. Instead he chose to go for players he himself wanted(whether these rumours were true or not I do not know).

Does anyone know if the likes of Izaguirre, Kayal, Hooper etc were players that John Park found for us?

I'd be interested to know because John Park came to Celtic with a reputation of being a good talent spotter.

He found Hooper too. Liked the look of him and told Lenny to go have a look.

 

John Park is a legend! So valuable having great scouts, if it means you can pick up players like izaguirre, kayal, rogne and the twardzik twins for what seems to me a total of less than 3M, that is great business and he should get a title medal at the end of the year!

 

So it was John Park that found all these players then?

 

Aye its his job , same with Ki Tony had * all to do with Ki coming here yet people think he did .

 

i think the ki deal made sense to everyone at the club, Asia young player of the year, Korean shirt sales would have been through the roof

it wont be just john park who identifys the targets he will have his contacts around the world plus all out other scouts, then he will have a look at them and recommend them to neil to look at and then its up to lawell to see if the deal is financially viable

 

i said it on the other thread ill say it again, john park deserves alot of credit, ALOT!

I was just curious as to whether(assuming the rumours about Mowbray were true - wouldn't be surprised if they were bullshit tbh) Neil Lennon was maybe going after his own players like Mowbray allegedly did.

If the likes of Izaguirre, Kayal and Hooper are all players John Park has found for us then he is doing a great job. He certainly came with a good reputation and it would be comforting to know he's living up to that reputation.

a think this guy has been one of the best signings celtic has made, getting us players like izzy,kayal,commons and hooper,hopefully hes found another great player in waynama.
Thought davie hay was a good chief scout as well scouting players like di-canio,hooijdonk and cadete.

 

He's done great, I remember about a year ago though, Park was getting slated for not doing enough, and being a waste of money. Funny how things change.

 

That's the difference when a manager actually listens to what this guy has to say rather than basically ignore his recommendations.

 

Done a great job! I'm sure he isn't the only scout doing a great job though. The whole scouting team deserve a pat on the back.

He identified a lot of players we never signed either who are now quality like Kranjcar, Hamsik and Kuzmanovic when Strachan was manager.

 

Top guy, need to keep him.

 

Seydou Doumbia as well.

Strachan wasn't interested, and 6 months down the line he went to Russia for about ten million.

 

He can't take credit for Commons really.

But yeah, he's found some crackers. Izaguirre and Kayal have been great finds. Hope he keeps coming up with these players for us, could end up making the club a lot of money.

 

hooper has been a great find as well,reckon we could get about 7 or 8 million for him.
