Do you think Hibs could turn £2.5m down though? He's probably just said that to drive his price up. Hopefully we can get him next summer/January if we can.

We could get him for 3 million. In a few years he'll be good enough.

He is probably someone who will get better and better though, he's a clever player on and off the ball and will get wiser the more and more he plays. Seems to always pop up in the right places and can shield a ball for fun. With Hibs he tried to do a lot of attacking as well but if he came here he could do more of the Brown role of sitting deeper, muscling in to win balls, turn a couple of guys and pass it on.

He's coming up to a year left on his contract. He won't cost 3 mill. 2 at a push..

Let him go to England and he'll never end up here..

Not a chance they are getting £5m for him.

    Pure fantasy.

They'll be lucky to get half of that.

The only way they'd get £5million is if someone in the EPL wanted him, guys like Arfield, McArthur, Darren Fletcher and James Morrison are still masquerading as EPL midfielders and he's better than any of them and much younger. So if someone like Bournemouth, Burnley or West Brom wanted him could pay £5million without thinking twice as thats nothing to them, they probably just count fees that cheap as near enough free. Unlikely though since they probably dont even know he exists :56:

I know he's sometimes seen as the "natural successor to Brown". I've said it myself and it's easy to see why, what with his aggression. But he's far more attacking than Brown.

Plays a bit more like Stuart Armstrong, but less productive in front of goal.

    Plays nothing like Armstrong IMO.

His tenacity, determination and streetwiseness (just invented a word) are Brownesque without a shadow of a doubt.

So did Brown though before we signed him, Brown at Hibs was a flashy, fairly skillful pacey attacking midfielder really mostly known for dribbling through teams and being an attacking driving force.

Im sure even when we signed him he was being called a Scottish Gazza but it turned out he's ended up more of a Lambert or Lennon who will be remembered more for being solid and sitting in midfield.

Have to remember that the young Scott Brown was far more attacking than he is now. Strachan moulded him into a more withdrawn player.

Comparisons are rightly drawn, IMO. Technically I think they are similar, can often look awkward but have the ability to pull something out the bag, I don't think McGinn will ever be anything special in that regard.

Drive, energy and pace as well as stomach for a good scrap, a lot of similarities.

Aye of course. I'm sure McGinn is capable of playing in the Brown role, but he's at his best when he has license to roam.

I'm not disputing that. He's very much like Brown in that regard.

My point is that he's more of a box to box midfielder, rather than Brown who tends to sit fairly deep and control the game these days.

He might be a better replacement for Brown than any of them which is all that matters.

Can't compare him with around 3 out of that lot. As for Henderson ask Hibs fans who they'd rather have.

    It won't be Liam.

He showed a nice range of passing against us at the weekend on the couple he attempted, 2 were belters that he basically crossed from the middle of the park over our defence to Stokes pealing off the back of Boyata was it whoever was play left centre-back for us. Bitton actually.

Has a good few things about him, very aggressive, runs all day and covers the whole pitch, very strong on the ball, decent tackler, a leader, and his passing, crossing and shooting is decent better than Brown's anyway. Has a similar habit to Brown also that he always seems to just pop in and make interceptions from all angles.
