What relevance does that have to anything?

The general consensus, in and out of the game, is Hayes was the best player outwith Celtic in Scotland last year. That can't be argued with, it's a fact - he was the only non-Celtic player in the voting for POTY. Our Manager has also confirmed it was his opinion and I dare say if you asked 100 Celtic fans the majority would agree with it.

    Irrelevant.

Plus, Ferguson scored 16 goals from midfield that season and won the league. Not exactly ridiculous that he won POTY.

It wasn't a particularly strong pool, and I wouldn't say Hayes strengthens our squad at all. It's possible for signings not to work out and managers to get them wrong sometimes, everybody from O'Neill to Alex Ferguson to Mourinho to Pep has done it, I think this will be one of Brendan's. Doesn't mean he isn't a great manager or can't spot a great player etc, just don't think much of this signing.

Aye but he was and is a *.

McGinn? Always does look good when I see Hibs play, I'll say that. Young enough to develop further, but hope he spends this season at least at Hibs.

Nae point even having that argument. The Doc's support of Allan is weirdly steadfast.

Have to admit the hibs and Huns game the other day is all I've really seen of him properly, he does look a talent and tbf I suppose I can see the comparisons to Brown.

Problem is he could well turn out to be great player I just don't think we are the ones who can give that to him, he'd be better off making the mover English championship to say I dunno a team like fulham or Sheff Wednesday.

Again irrelevant whether you think he strengthens our pool or not, he was the best player outwith Celtic in Scotland last year. It's not only Rodgers that thinks/thought that, it's the general consensus.

General consensus is also that he's a pretty poor player. And because of that view, which I also hold, and with Rodgers comments about only wanting to sign top quality, I'm questioning why we've seen the need to buy him. Being one of the nominees for Player of the Year, an award previously won by Michael Higdon as recently as 2013, doesn't change that.

Honestly thought Slivka and McGeouch ran the show for Hibs on Saturday.

That Slivka looked class, be interesting to see how he progresses.

Couldn't be clearer why we bought him; known quantity who has quality and we were needing wingers.

A sluggish start, played out of position, doesn't mean the general consensus is he's a poor player. It means he's had a sluggish start out of position.

Aye it's not a vendetta or anything, just don't think he's particularly good. If he scores a goal in this Playoff Round against Astana, that more than justifies his transfer, I'll give him that right away. But in all honesty, from fans you've spoken to outwith the board, not been an overall negative reaction? I've yet to hear anybody say anything other than questioning his signing.

And Rodgers knows him, his personality, his workrate and has stated he's cover for 6 positions. That about sums it up.

On the back of a Juve release, with international caps, young and signed on a free, one good season and he pretty much guarantees Hibs a high-six, maybe 7-figure fee next summer.

Only negative I've heard or read is that he better not be Paddy's replacement....whilst we're still in a public pursuit of Paddy.
