    I’d welcome the signing big time. I like our current crop of midfielders and don’t think it’s an area that should be priority but he’s a 28 year old with experience of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, and has also reached a European Championship semi final, being one of the main players in the run.

    Whenever I’ve watched him play I’ve been impressed - when Ireland beat Wales in Cardiff last year the game totally changed when Allen went off injured which is as good a compliment as any to be giving a midfielder.

    Anyone turning their nose down on the idea of the signing is mental.

    He would. His experience and abilities going into his peak will lift the entire team.

    Put 1 player into a sinking ship he won't fix it. Put 1 into a flying team and that team improves.

    He's a good player but he's not that good. The cream of Europe aren't sweating Joe Allen.

    Say we get a group of Real Madrid, Dortmund and Lyon. You think the addition of Joe Allen would see us finish 2nd?
