    We don't like Denayer,
    But it doesn't matter
    'cause we sold Boyata...

    Denayer - Ajer - Boyata

Great back three, very good mixture of height, pace, strength, power and ball playing abilities. Denayer could even go on to replace Lustig as the (fairly) tall, RB/CB type player. Played all across the backline for Gala, at RB/LB/CB his versatility would be extremely useful in Rodgers fluidly changing 3-4-1-2/4-2-3-1.

A lot is made of his comments, but he would of been like 19-20, seemingly with the world at his feet. Capped for Belgium at that age, Man City player, walked the league - He probably did expect to go on to better things than he has, I think we all thought so too.

If he is interested in coming back, it's probably partly down to seeing the noise Boyata has made. Got his hands on a bronze medal, 270 mins at a World Cup, I'd say that along with maybe his experience at Sunderland probably humbled the lad.

Just turned 23, 5 years between him and Boyata, huge potential still!

Am I the only one who thinks Denayer is being lined up as Boyata’s replacement?

The fact Brendan was saying he’d want a replacement if Boyata left sounds more like it’ll be one in one out.

I think everyone had been thinking that. To be honest I think it would be a fine move.

Im thinking the same, boyata’s transfer fee will fund the move for Denayer. Hope im wrong tho because even if we keep boyata we still need another cb of quality!

I’d be happy with that if it allows us to sell Boyata for between £8m and £12m. There would still be time to add another centre-half before the window closes.

We dont need another CB, other than a replacement for anyone who leaves.

They may not he everyone's cup of tea, but say we still have Boyata or his replacement, then that leavesbus with:

Boyata/replacement, Ajer, Simunovic, Hendry, Compper, Bitton, Tierney and Lustig (the latter two who've played either side of a back 3)

I'd like to see Boyata and Denayer together as our new defense, and then Ajer if it becomes a 3.

Denayer has all the class and pace but he isn't the biggest of centre halfs, Boyata is more imposing will work well.

So in a back four you'd drop Ajer our best centre half and someone who is progressing game by game? You on lash mate?

Aye i just think Ajer has still a lot to learn he''s only young in terms of positioning and overall as a CB, Boyata is our best currently so i would pair him with Denayer.

I wouldn't pair him with Boyata, mainly as I think only one will be at Celtic this season. Man City will happily either loan him our or sell him, a loan to buy may suit them well. If Denayer does not leave permanently soon he could potentially ruin his career, Boyata did the same by waiting so long to leave Man City and has only just become an international regular. Denayer scored 6 when he was with us so he brings the goals that Boyata has in him also.

Bitton and Compper should be loaned out or sold; in fact, I would be happy terminate Compper’s contract if we can reach an agreement with him.

    That would leave us with:

    Boyata
    Šimunović
    Hendry
    Ajer
    (Lustig)
    (Tierney)

I’d be happy with one in, one out, from there, provided the incoming players have proven to be of a very high quality. We have actually been linked with some very good centre-halves this window - Denayer, Papdopoulos, Schär...
