It’s about financial analysis and reading the accounts and taking them apart it’s clear to see money is moved (legally) to reduce the profit celtic could have posted a profit of £10m plus last season if it wasn’t from some excellent accounting and it’s all legal and above board I might add

Don’t forget the outstanding accrued income from van Dijk. £9m, according to reports.

    No money though.

It’s default within the support and its all been manufactured by the Boards narrative.

When any Celtic supporter advocates us spending our own money, in the bank, they refer to Sevco. Theres a vast difference between spending our own money on players and spending other peoples money on players. Seems a lot of Celtic supporters cannot tell the difference while they * at the state of Sevco while having no interest to look at home and just leave Lawwell to think for them. Classic slave mentality.

If some on here were accountants they would know that accounting profit is not the be all and end all, its cashflow. Cashflow is king, money in vs money out and cash in the bank.

Obviously there is money available based on earning in the past 18 months, but at the same time folk need to stop getting hysterical just because there's money sitting not getting spent.

We'll spend on the right player when they're available. * wasting decent money on the wrong player just for the sake of spending it.

Indeed it is 100% that’s the key:

    2016/17

    Season ticket sales of 46,500
    This season sold out 52,000

    Average price £400 x 5,500 = £2.2m extra in season ticket sale revenue plus UCl and UEL payments shoud rise by £3m this season but looking at last season;

    Turnover £90.6m
    Expenditure £76.3m

    Net cash at bank £17.9m
    Profit £6.9m

Ideal profit is 8% of turnover for any big business we could have been at 12% if it had not been for some very good accounting!

In the last 5 years accounting period 2012-2017 celtic made a profit in 4 of those 5 years in 2015 mainly due to VVD transfer or it would have been a colossal loss of £12m given the only loss in that period is £4m out of 5 years accounts shows we are well run by Lawwell.

We would in theory make a loss if we fail to make UCL groups year on year of around £12m by looks of it that’s why Lawwell says it’s crucial to qualify in 3 of every 5 seasons.

I think the lack of any real links/offers etc is more concerning than the fact that we havnt really secured any moves. Especially when the term “revolving door” was being used.
The January window can produce the odd good value move due to contract situtions.

Id held out hope for James McCarthy in this window. Obviously now with his injury and all that definitely wont be happening.
I cant see Musonda happening now as i feel like it would have happened earlier in the window.
I feel like the Compper move has backfired due to his injury as he will miss the games we need him for most. It wouldnt surprise me if he doesnt manage to break into the squad until the new season as Ajer/Boyata/Jozo could keep him out of a place

I think that weakens your own argument, but okay.

Aye don’t want to spend just for the sake of it just stating it is there as and when required.

Lawell says that, yet we dice with death every summer by failing to acquire targets before qualifiers.
Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate. Theres a thin line.
we almost crumbled away against both Beer Sheva and Astana.

That's the way I feel tbh. I don't think there's anyone really saying there's no money, just that they want to spend it wisely to maximize the effect.

I don't mind if they don't buy anyone just now but buy the likes of paddy and another quality player in the summer.

Last thing I want to say on the accounts

    2016 - group cash at hand £10m
    2017 - group cash at hand £24m

So that £14m added to the £6.9m profit if not added to group cash would have yielded a profit of £20.9m but would have incurred a significantly higher tax bills

And if players aren’t bought and/or Moussa is sold then I would expect that £24m to increase to £40m comfortably.

    But we wait and see!

C’mon Celtic get the deals done HH

Well their is teams are reluctant to sell in this window compared to summer because it's half way through season someone else said and I agree that I will be disappointed if money isn't spent I the summer
