Discuss James Forrest in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.
Won the Football Writers POTY as well
JAMES Forrest has been named Ladbrokes' Premiership Player of the Season following another remarkable year in Glasgow's green and white.
With 17 goals and 20 assists under his belt, the 27-year-old adds the accolade to this year’s PFA Player of the Year, PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year, and the SFWA Footballer of the Year.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's Scottish Cup final against Hearts at Hampden, Forrest said: “I’m delighted to win another award, and it’s been a tremendous season. At this time in the season, you collect awards both personally and for the team, and it’s a great time. I’m looking forward to Saturday as well!
“I’ve won a few awards now this season, and it’s obviously good to be recognised for your season and how hard you’ve been working. I’ve enjoyed that throughout the season – working hard and playing with this team. It’s been really enjoyable and it’s great picking up some awards.
“Last year was the best scoring form of my career, and I’ve pushed on this year. Managers want forward players to contribute, and when you’re playing for Celtic, and the national team as well, there are players that are looked on to do that. I think it’s good when you’re contributing and helping the team, and it gives you confidence as well.”

Well done Jamsey son, very well deserved.
Great to see him getting the praise and credit he deserves, fantastic player who has devoted his career to Celtic. Well done Jamesey bhoy superb.
Given he is entering what is usually a pros peak career years now we could be in for quite a treat next season and for a while with James Forrest. So exciting to see one of our own becoming such a massive player for us. One of the things Forrest has added to his games over the last few years is not just goals but also consistently getting goals in big games.
Anyone else think that he should play a free role in a midfield of five ?Hes by far our best player in or around our box.
I can’t understand, although I’m over the * moon, why he isn’t being chased by a host of clubs.
He has added consistency to his game & that was what held him back a bit imho.
You hear regularly when we’re looking for or buying good players that we couldn’t afford them or they wouldn’t be coming or they would be bought from us if they showed consistency, well he does now & we’re bearing the fruits.
Well done to the bhoy. One from our ranks that rarely gets the accolades he deserves.
Wee Jamesy likes this
He is absolutely class now, at all levels. The way he keeps and uses the ball, even in Europe, is a blueprint for all of our Academy Bhoys to follow.
Have to think it’s purely down to the fact he’s happy because he’d be a sure fire success in the English Premiership. He’d go to an Arsenal or Man United and instantly improve them, that’s how good he now is.
That’s why I can’t understand it. Still expect teams to be trying to steal him.
I hope that he retires here.
The last player You said that about was compper & he then went & left us the *.
He won’t get the full appreciation he deserves even off our own.
So grateful of players like Forrest and Bown who could easily have * off at any point over the last 8/9 years but have chose to give their best years to us. Could be making a fortune playing in England and haven’t even considered a move away. Cheers for not giving us heart palpitations every transfer window Jamesy!
