Just equaled Bobby Charlton's goal scoring record yesterday, 249, think he should be but just got a niggling doubt, don't know why, his stats suggest he should be.

Probably not i'd say. I think of Rooney as more of an Anthony Stokes of Man Utd than a Larsson. Had the odd good season but also had many averge or poor seasons, not someone you think of as a big game player or you never considered him as the best player in the team either.

Thinking back over his career at big moments all I really think of is him scoring a hat-trick against Fenerbahce on his CL debut, that goal from outside the box against Newcastle I think it was and the overhead kick that came off his shin against Man City. no real big performances that turned big games or won Cups or a season where he was the best player in the EPL or anything.

Being their top scorer is a good record though but it's probably down to just no-one else has spent that much time playing for them in the modern era. If Van Nistelrooy stayed 5 more seasons he'd probably have scored over 300 or Ronaldo or guys like that.

Probably, he's served the club for near 13 years won 5 league titles, a champions league, a few league cups, an FA Cup, a world club championship, will be their record scorer and has been captain for them.

Also has scored some outstanding goals and produced some wonderful moments along the way. He's definitely a Manchester United legend.

And that's why they aren't Legends like Rooney is. Plus did he not win like every player of the year award going one season?

Can't really be classed a legend just cause you were there a long time though, for me anyway. I think you really have to be considered one of the best players as well. But would Man U fans put him in the same category as Charlton, Best, Ronaldo, Cantona, Van Nistelrooy and that or in with guys like Macari, York, Cole, Sheringham.

Thats why there would be a question over it as he was not a Raul, Totti, Del Piero, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes etc

I think he is, considering his service to the club. Yeah he's been on the decline for a while but he was world class for several seasons.

I think people forget this. At one point some people were even talking about him as the 3rd best player in the world (after the Obvious 2)

Were these people recaptured and returned to the hospital or are they still on the loose?

You don't beat a long standing record without being a club legend. 10 years time no one will remember how * he was in his last 3 or 4 seasons.
