Interesting story about C.Ronaldo

I Haven't got a link for this sorry, it was posted on another forum and they provided no link either although he's a pretty reputable poster.

Ronaldo is the person speaking in the first two paragraphs.

"I have to thank my old friend Albert Fantrau for my succes.We played together for the same team in the U-18 championship. When Sporting Lisbon's manager came to see us he said that:"Who score's more goals will come in our academy".

"We won that match 3-0. I scored the first goal then Albert scored the second with a great header.But the third goal was impressive for all of us.Albert was 1 on 1 against the goalkeeper, he skilled the goalkeeper and i was running in front of him. All he has to do was to score but he passed to me and i scored the third goal , so i went to the Sporting Lisbon academy. After the match i met him and i said to him Why ? .. he said that "You are better than me" ..

"Many journalists went to Albert's house and asked him if it was a true story. He said yes. He also said that his career as a player after the match ended and now is unemployed. "But how did you build this house so great, you have a car? You seem like a rich man. You also keep your family .. From where did this come from? 'Albert more proudly replied: "It is from Cristiano! "


What I find most interesting from this is not the fact that it was a very nice gesture by both men but that Ronaldo was seriously close to not being accepted at the sporting academy, I also find it a little shocking that they base who gets in (in this occasion anyway) by who could score the most goals in the match.

 

Good gesture but the way it came about is terrible.

 

Top guy ronnie and so is his buddy infact, bit of a * up way to coach youngsters though.

 

Don't think it's true at all. Why would he just quit playing football if he was that good.

 

Sounds like a big pile of horseshit.

 

It could be, some things don't add up like the bit about basing who gets into their academy on who scored the most in that game. But gonna pretend that it is true because it's such a heart warming story haha.

 

Goal should have been disallowed,Ronaldo was offside.

It was a close one mate. Personally I think he was just on.

 

I want to believe it cause it's a good story.

But sadly - as I found out with the Balotelli sagas - it's probably complete bullshit

 

I don't think it's totally invented.

For sure, C.Ronaldo may give some money to some old friend linked to his first past in football

 

I smell *. As atmosphere points out 't basing who gets into their academy on who scored the most in that game' Is just * stupid.

 

Remember we're talking about 10 years ago, coaching has moved on a lot since then.

Certainly was a very bath method if true though.

 

If they were playing in Celtic strips he was defo OFFSIDE any linesman could see it.

It seems clear that Cronaldo's earnings and medals should now be transferred to Albert.
