We got rid of one CB and brought in two.

One of whom is injured already and then we lose Boyata and Ajer, my point is about our lack of depth

Well Thank you for your insight into the on goings of the Celtic Boardroom, it seems you know more than our actual board.

And aye Ajer played at CB last season, at Killie, I hope he can step up and be a great defender in Europe but he hasn't shot that yet

Can't help injuries, same as with Sviatchenko. We have 5 CBs and 6 if Bitton is included.

Our main focus is on domestic matters. 4 doesn't denote a lack of depth.

Ajer just got back from a small injury an Jozo has a history of injuries so forgive me if I feel the more CBs we have the better

Ajer's just back from a small injury, after missing a total of 0 games.

Lustig would make it 5, KT is another option, 6. An abundance of cover

Back to the original point, Big Erik has been absolutely honking since his return and he now finds himself surplus to requirements at the club.

    *Ends*

Eric won’t play for us again..

He’s rated behind Simunovic & Boyata, which tells its own story..

Not to mention Ajer, Compper & Hendry..

Sviatchenko looked good for a season but he’s not rated by BR it’s clear..

To be fair in the crucial early Champions League game against Rosenborg at home Ajer was man of the match that day at the back and that was a very high stakes European game. Beyond that for me Ajer with his level right now is a certain starter even if all the center backs we currently have our fit.

That does seem pretty clear. I imagine he will be sold this summer. Which is best for both sides. Ajer for me with the level he has shown this season already has replaced him and given he is only 19 what an up side Ajer has. I don't want to get too ahead of myself here but I can see Ajer becoming a Roy Aitken like figure for us if he stays at the club long term.

CD: "Roberts is just returning to training but isn’t available for the game. Rogic is a little bit further on and hopefully he will be available over the next week or so. Armstrong unfortunately is still in his rehab, the same with Griffiths

:56: ok sure, compper hasn't played for us and Hendry has been at Dundee, Simunovic and Boyata are our first choice when they are healthy and Ajer after them but Sviatchenko has too much experience to just throw away

Sviatchenko made way for Compper and Hendry to come in. Go figure

Nir Bitton has been added to Celtic’s extensive list of casualties after Brendan Rodgers revealed that the Hoops midfielder’s season is over.

The Israeli internationalist requires surgery to correct a knee injury that he has toiled with in recent weeks.

His absence will be a blow to Rodgers who already has a host of players in the treatment room.

“Nir Bitton will probably be out for the season which is a blow for us,” said Rodgers. “He has an issue with his knee and probably needs an operation and that is probably him for the rest of the season.

“In terms of injuries overall this year has been tough for us but it is a shame for him because he has been an important member of our squad. We are hoping some of the others will be back sooner rather than later.

“Overall, this year as been, in terms of injuries, tough.

“It’s a shame for Nir as he’s a very important member of our squad, but some of the others will be back sooner rather than later.

“It’s a slight issue with his knee that he has put himself through.

“We had a look at it last week in London and it was deemed he needs the operation on it.”

Tom Rogic has returned to full training but Rodgers has confirmed that the Australian midfielder will not start the game against Zenit tonight. Neither will Patrick Roberts with Celtic waiting on clearance from his parent club Manchester City before he is given the green light to play again after two successive hamstring injuries.

“Tom is back training now, Pat won’t be involved,” explained Rodgers. “He is getting clearance on his hamstring injury so he has gone back to Manchester City to make sure everything is OK.”

Kristoffer Ajer is expected to partner Jozo Simunovic tonight, with Dedryck Boyata also out. Ajer has come to the fore in recent months but as a relatively inexperienced 19-year-old, he will be required to hold his nerve against Zenit.

There has been a perennial question mark this term over whether or not Celtic ought to have signed further defensive cover – Marvin Compper is still injured but would have been ineligible for this game in any case – but Rodgers believes getting the best out of young players means they play at this level.

“It’s a work in progress,” he said. “When you work here and we have to be real, you are not going to get a 25 or 26-year-old centre-half who is at the top of his game, they won’t be here.

“So at Celtic, you are either going to have a young player that you are nurturing, developing and coaching and putting into these situations to be better, such as [Jozo] Simunovic,[Kris] Ajer, [Jack] Hendry, to be better.

“Or you have the centre-halves at the other end towards the end of their careers with that experience.

“We are always going to have to have that. Celtic won’t be able to spend £20 million on a 26-year-old centre half, so the only way you can work it is by giving them coaching and experience.”

“Of course, it is a harsh environment to be trying to learn in, but that’s where we are at and we have to always find ways to help the players improve, be better find the solutions when they do have issues in games.

“Hendry is a boy who, in time, will be ready for that.

“He’ll be involved in the squad. This is the job. You have to develop them and get them through.”
