Portugal, I love Portugal and although I wouldn't want to move there permanently, November until April would be a good wee break.

Not really, it's very expensive, my house costs about 2K UK pounds a month to rent, wife Labour bills pushed over 15k, the cleanliness is an illusion, a beer sets you back 15 dollars on average etc, city centre area is kept pretty clean but outside that with the HDB housing its rotten in a lot of places.

Again unless you are in the city centre, local food is terrible, crappy imported chicken and meats, that is overpriced to *.

Benefits of living here, low tax, good schools if you go to international school, very safe place to live, best airport ever, SingTims CSC... lol

Assuming you were in and around the city centre, Singapore cusine is one of the worst I have had in Asia, it's a poor mixture of various asian cusines, and it does none of them justice unless your eating at places in the city. Some of the disgusting delights you can get such as a bag of coffee... Honestly maybe just being raised in Scotland with good quality meat I am particularly stubborn, but I really despise local food here. Turkey Bacon on everything, Chicken * sausages...

Nah, I was in Tampines, Bedok and even Jurong. Had nice stuff in all of those areas. There were places I didn't like too, but you get that everywhere.

I think Singapore is infinitely better for seafood, than the UK, but I can see your point about some of the meat in some places.

Definitely not better for sea food, they have more of it, but usually not the freshest or best quality either, the problem here is they have to import everything almost, so quality is lost and the fishing waters around Singapore are manky with all the shipping.

I will never forget my first week here trying eel... I just wanted a bit of sweet and sour hong kong style!

If you travel up to KL just a few hours away the quality is much better.

Hmm, I've enjoyed the seafood there more than I have here.

We're planning to go up to Malacca and KL next time we're over, so I'll definitely try some.

Ill tell you what it is, the "we are on holiday everything is class" blinkers :p

I was the same when I just moved here.

Tell you what if you go to KL, just around KLCC there is an Iraqi restaurant called Al Iraqi just opposite beach club, the best kebab I ever had.
