I'd sign myself on a free with a 30million signing on fee paid in one installment. Retire the following day. Easy :60::56:

We need to fix our spine, starting from the goalkeeper and working out, so I'd buy a goalkeeper, 2 cbs and a cam that can last more than 70 minutes. I'd also buy a right back if Gamboa is never getting a chance.

I'd be tempted to throw him in at centre half as he'd keep it tight at the back (his back pocket) :fear:

It’s scary to think that at one time that was enough money to get us Sutton, Hartson Lennon, Thompson, Agathe and Valgaeren with money left over!

There wasn't, we repeatedly made losses during the MoN era. Most of which were nullified by the 2005 share issue. Sky has ruined football with it's inflated fees but even then they way we were operating was unsustainable.

Obviously with the benefit of hindsight we can see we were competing a financially-doped & aggressively tax-evading competitor.

There wasn't money to get Sutton, Hartson etc. and have money left over. We were steadily creeping further into debt season upon season. in 2003, despite making it all the way to the UEFA cup final and the added revenue that brought we still made a £7 million loss.

I didn’t say that. I said 30 million was enough to buy those players and have money left over.

Over £2.5mil incomings and outgoing in this decade:

In the 2010s we have received:
    -£12.5million for Wanyama + £1million of his Southampton>Tottenham transfer (£13.5 million)
    -£12.5million for Van Dijk + £7million of his Southampton>Liverpool transfer (£19.5 million)
    -£10million for Forster
    -£9.5million for McGeady
    -£5.5million for Ki
    -£5.5million for Hooper
    -£2.5million for Kelvin Wilson
    -£2.5million for Fortune
So that's a TOTAL of - £68.5million in our main transfer incomes of the decade...

And yet our top spending for the decade has been:

    -£4.5million for Ntcham
    -£3.5million for Sinclair
    -£3million for Simunovic
    £2.5million for Juarez
    -£2.5million for Van Dijk
    -£2.5million for Hooper
    -£2.5million for Pukki
    -£2.5million for Eboue
    So thats's a total of...£24million.

    A £44.5million difference.

I know a lot of fans love to hear about making profits and love harping on about "living within our means", "we have to pay the electric bills too, remember!", but for major transfers we have spent nearly THREE TIMES less than we have brought in. Surely even the most tight of fans would like to see MORE spent than we do. Come on.
