Student debt is the one debt that isnt really debt in the normal sense because it can never be called in. Its probably more apt to think of it as an additional tax until you pay it off as it is only paid if you are earning. And depending on when you took it out will depend what you are paying on it. The newer rates from memory are outrageous!

Yeah, additional tax is sort of how I see it, it's taken out of my wage long before I would ever see it (before tax) and its all relevent to what you earn, and as you say only when you earn a certain amount.

considered it myself back in the day with CIS as i really fancied their support through FPCS's but what i didn't fancy was the basic prior to commission and didn't want to take the chance with a vary young family at the time. shudda wudda cudda.

    Huh?

Being an IFA would kind of be interesting but it is a shrinking market with a whole lot more effort involved compared to what it used to be like. I think the private wealth world would be more interesting. I have never actually done any IFA job myself, I just got qualified almost inadvertently in a previous job.

agree with that mate....i'm going back over 10 years...for about the last 10/15 years i've got my own mortgage online and pretty much got the best deal going without the fees. In fact, probably the only financial product i would ask advice on is pensions (a minefield) and certain types of investment products.

Am I in the * twilight zone here or something?

You claim to be a financial professional who has 'always been in the green' financially.

Get the * outta here, as Conor McGregor would say.

Currently zero, but no doubt that'll probably change soon. Hopefully not though.

I never once claimed I was a 'financial professional'. I stated I have always been in the green for my earnings as I never needed to owe debt.

Do you mean in the black?

Yeah, 'greening' from my short-lived days messing around in trading horse race prices, is trading a profit before a race starts and then taking that profit and betting it equally across every runner to effectively lock in a part of the sum.
