Discuss Honest Mistakes Thread 2016/17 onwards. in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.
I would still not want VAR. Part of the beauty of the game is players & referees making mistakes.
Aye, "honest mistakes" is one thing i have no problem with, but being biased and cheating us is something else altogether.
I wonder how many league titles and cups we'll need to lose before some folks think differently.
Fifa and Eufa didn't bring it into their major tournaments for no reason.
Anyone who has seen VAR in operation for a full season will not be in favour of it. If it was 1 referees interpretation of 'clear and obvious' there would be no problem, however having 6 different refs over the weekend, the amount of inconsistent decisions will blow your mind. I mean Callejon diving in the box v Liverpool was seen by the VAR and they didn't think the referee made a clear and obvious mistake?! That's meant to be the highest level of referees operating it, could you imagine guys like Beaton or Clancy doing it properly?
I know, I agree to an extent.
Sadly I just don't see an alternative right now with the * being so deep-rooted in our scottish game.
It's just so depressing.
How can christie be banned for 2 games for endangering an opponent yet Lewis Ferguson and Curtis Main get 1 match band for violent conduct?
Christie misses our games vs Ross county and Aberdeen
yet according to the record the Aberdeen pair are only banned for their game vs Motherwell but are available against us!
edit : they do get a 2 match ban * record at it again!
Get away from the record. Utter poison.
Well we canny really moan about mistakes then ST. Personally I can't wait for VAR and if I was Pete I would pay for it to be implemented now - It would probably be one of the best signings we could make
Christ you still reading that thing, the daily sport, if that's even still on the go, would be less embarrassing to take into an accountants office surely
Reading it on my phone in the Cluj
Just browsing to kill time papers a hun wankfest
Clicking on their * website funds them as well.
Guy I sit beside at Parkhead still reads it. I get on my soapbox for a sermon every now and again to get him aff it.
Thugs and thieves, comparing Fergus McCann to Sadam Hussein, stoking up hatred of Lennon etc.
I wouldn't pick it up even if I had ran out of bog roll.
Didn’t know that
I accept mistakes, it’s part & parcel of the game.
Watching VAR in use has shown mistakes don’t always get overruled, the game gets intensity interrupted & it’s too specific.
Do you think it’s been 100% successful when used?
Now I don't know what's worse - Reading the * or taking a phone into the bog when yer having a *
Anything that helps reduce mistakes, on the big calls, can only be a good thing ST.
No, it's not been 100% successful but it has given more correct decisions than wrong ones. We would, more often than not, benefit from it and that's the most important thing mate.
Who doesn't take their phone with them when they go for a * ?
Prime reading time.
I agree, it has given more correct decisions than incorrect, however, I want them all to be right or leave it.
I also want the game to flow like it does now, not have 3,4,5 minute recaps that would affect us as a team more than any other team in the league I think.
They haven’t even used technology ( or haven’t got it) to know exactly when the ball is actually struck to make a guaranteed correct decision for offside.
I’m not that daft that I don’t realise we would likely be the biggest winners if it’s used, although it depends on who is actually monitoring the VAR in play, & would they be just looking closer at our faults?
