Henrik Larsson's full interview with 442 magazine

He's previously stated that the standard in Scotland is never as bad as it's made out to be. We all know it's not one of the stronger leagues, but it's not as bad as people think.

 

Who didn't greet when he left. Even now when I watch his final days at Celtic, I still turn on the waterworks. That's how much of a profound impact this man has had and I know I am not the only one. I was relatively lucky in that I hadn't experienced any great loss in my family, Larsson was one of my first real reminders in my life that nothing lasts forever and the best of things will one day be gone.

What an incredible understatement. We certainly knew how good he was. World Class players stand out in any arena. They are just so different from normal players.

When he talks of the Porto game and how we had them on the fork that brings a tear to the eye. I really believed we had them too, until the red like a punch in the stomach. Larsson was amazing. Larsson was always amazing

So many wonderful memories. I'd love to have heard that MON team talk btw, sounds inspiring.

Especially when Henrik was playing, both us and them in Govan had quite strong teams in the early 2000's.

 

Fifteen goals in 30 games against rangers is some record, even more so given that he was up against a decent team. Wonder how many he would put past the current "rangers" team?

The * goal! Truly was a thing of beauty.

I was playing for my local team away in Blackrock. After the game no shower, straight into the car with the gaffer & half the team & headed straight for the local. Got the radio on and the first thing we heard was 'and there's been a third goal at Celtic park, let's go to find out who's got it'. It seemed to take ages and then 'Paul Lambert has just scored Celtics third' what a * feeling.
We got back to the local, place was packed. We were in the lounge watching on the regular tv cause the old lads in the bar had the bleeding horse racing on the big screen.
When that * went in the place went nuts. It's hard to explain how powerful that result was. Two things stay with me, that goal which I think was the greatest I've ever seen (the nutmeg on that donkey bert) & when Larsson scored his fantastic header for 5 an old chap beside me turns and says 'this is one of those days you'll always remember what you were doing'. All these years later he was absolutely right.
I'm a grown man but I still get goosebumps thinking about him.

Great interview with Henke. A guy that can truely claim to be a Celtic legend. I wish he elaborated on what MON said in his team talk vs Liverpool in the run to Seville that got the team so inspired to pull off that great win at Anfield against the odds though. Sounds like it was a real "Any Given Sunday" moment.....
