JERE URONEN was at fault for both goals as Neil Lennon’s men won 2-0 in Sweden to take a huge stride towards the Champions League group stage.

JERE URONEN was desperate to scalp Celtic – but ended up the laughing stock of Sweden after his bad hair day saw Helsingborgs shorn of hope.
The left-back was at fault for both goals as Neil Lennon’s men won 2-0 in Sweden to take a huge stride towards the Champions League group stage.
Finland international Uronen let Kris Commons escape to hit a second-minute opener, then failed to clear Georgios Samaras’ header off the line 15 after the break.
The 18-year-old was ridiculed in Sweden yesterday as newspaper pictures and TV replays showed him fiddling with his hair in the build-up to the first goal.
Pundit Ola Andersson said: “He fixes his hair just when he shouldn’t be doing it.”
And Uronen said: “I marked the wrong man. When I looked at Commons he was far out on the edge of the area. But he slipped in and I missed him.
“For Celtic’s second goal I was maybe standing too close to the post.
“Fixing my hair is a reflex I always do without even thinking. I must do it 200 times a game and I don’t remember doing it this time.
“It doesn’t mean I don’t see things properly but maybe I’ll ask my girlfriend to cut my hair.

“I have made far worse mistakes in my career. I know what I did wrong and I will learn from it.”

See the thing about blaming the boy for not clearing it off the line. What about Sammy getting a free header, who was marking him and what about the goalkeeper???

Anyhow hope he continues to play with his hair in the 2nd leg.

He was marked, I said as soon as Kelvin Wilson came on we'd score from the next corner though. They have a very small team.

    We had on the pitch:

    Mulgrew - 6'3
    Wilson - 6'2
    Rogne - 6'3
    Samaras - 6'4

Which was just far too much for them to mark properly.

He was marked until the ball was crossed in, no challenge on Sammy or indeed Mulgrew either. Just think the criticism of the boy on the post was harsh considering others didn`t do their jobs.

    I agree that set-pieces we had/have a massive advantage.

Lads only 18, media should give him a break, i mean it wasnt the fact that he fixed his hair that made the difference, commons were already 3-4 meters away when he did that

Only the result really matters in this case and it was a great result. However, it could have been very different and we were cut open so many times. We have been very fortinate in drawing weaker teams in the qualifiers altough the Swedes (who were of a level that could win the SPL) were a much better side than the Finns (who were like a mid table SPL team). We were set up wrongly IMO until we switched it in the 2nd half. When they got desperate we could have scored a few in the later part of the game but we could so easily have lost 3 or 4 goals by then. Brilliant though it is to be almost through to the group stages, we have not really yet met proper CL quality opposition and we will have to play a lot tighter defensively if we are not to make fools of ourselves when we play proper CL level teams. I am not convinced our CHs are up to playing at that level. I am also worried about our tactics. Having said all that I thought we suffered a bit from Kayal and Broony not being fully match fit.
