    :56: Me only last week!

Nothing more frustrating than an escort blocking the right lane when there's loads of room!

Most of my work is hard. Ive a business in construction and im a grafter, I get stuck in and don't give a * what conditions I work in but the hardest was building my own house(6bed, 4 bathroom to give you the scale of it) doing the majority of the work myself while I was also working in construction all week. Also rearing a family at the same time which is a job in itself. It seemed to never end but once I finished it, it was huge relief it was over. Then few years later, I more or less renovated when all these new color codes came out :(

The easiest was sitting in a digger spreading stones, removing a tree gettin 1750euro(yes, one thousand seven hundred and fifty euro) for a days work(I priceed it for few days but did itiin 1) then turning up next day for 2 hours to remove the machine, tools etc.. it would be nice to get one of these jobs every week but they only come along here and there. The guy that was on the shovel got few quid for pints. He was there just to make up the numbers but he was chuffed with 50euro for his time haha.

Work I do isn't physically challenging, but can get to you mentally if you're not on top of things.

I draw/design building facades. The most challenging aspect is keeping up with building regs - more so post-grenfell.

Quite a lot of pressure considering architects aren't what they used to be. Most have the same level of competency as high school leavers which is extremely concerning for the future.

Toughest part of my job is it is in Asia, and I stay up to watch midweek games and have to be sharp the next day to travel/present etc.

It's not the architect who does buildings and stuff, much less interesting, it's Enterprise IT Architecture and Solutions haha

Easiest Job I had come to think of it was working weekend shifts in B&Q Boucher road. Used to get evacuated every second week due to bomb threats. Got paid a full day wage every time we were evacuated

Studied Architecture at uni and worked in a practice in London when I first graduated. Money was * compared to the rest of the professions in construction. Ended up doing a masters in construction management and now work site based as manager. More Graft and stress but it pays much better. Working on a design and build contract at the minute so still have a fair input on design matters. Best of both worlds

    Easiest Job

Tax Centre, honestly it’s a * ruse and they employ some real * morons that wouldn’t last ten seconds outside the civil service in the real world.

    Hardest Job

*, it’s not as much fun as everyone thinks

Wouldn't worry too much about it mate. Architects aren't even architects anymore. They're glorified artists. All their section details are noted "see specialists details".

They can't even work out U-Values anymore on my experience. Absolutely shocking.

Yeah most of them are daft *. Im building a garage( 10.8x 9m. 6m peak) This * didnt come out and do site survey when doing the plans. Septic tank is in the wrong place, plus the soak away was right on the corner of the footings i dug. Not only that, when i did my own site survey, got the laser level out, took all measurements the * thing going by to match the peak of the house which is stated in the planning, meant that the ground level had to be dug away at 1.6m down. The garage is 6m away from the back of the house! You can imagine the slope there would have been if i built to these measurements! Had to gt a new engineer and it was either rebubmit for new planning or tinker about with the design which the client choose the latter. 1200 euro the * got for his services plus cost the client more in extra work and fees for a new engineer! They turn up, put the hand out, collect and * off and leave us with ll the mind *.

I've just started with a guy doing house builds, am right looking forward to learning the ropes. But aye he's always moaning about architects and engineers, but he always gets his way haha. The clients love him cos he's very good at keeping costs to a minimum.
