He’ll surely get a game at home vs St. Mirren.

I would be happy for Frimpong to start tomorrow, has been so dynamic so far.

NEIL LENNON has revealed he’s had a heart-to-heart with Greg Taylor over his Celtic absence.

The £2million summer signing has yet to make his Hoops debut since an August move from Kilmarnock.

Taylor has only made the bench once but Lennon insists the Scotland cap WILL get his chance soon.

He said: “Greg has to be patient. We’ve had a chat with him about it and he knows the situation.

He hasn’t played yet and it’s difficult for him as Boli Bolingoli has come in and been consistent.

“Greg has not been kicking down doors or anything like that, he’s been training really well and knows his time will come

“The fact he’s not in the squad is because he knows we have Jonny Hayes who can double up positions — right wing, left wing or left back.

“So it’s pointless having one bona-fide left back when you have a player who can factor a couple of positions for you.

    Greg totally understands that.

“It’s new to him because he played every week at Kilmarnock.

“I was a big fan of him when I was managing Hibs. He was excellent over those two years.

“But he’ll be patient and I am sure that when his chance comes he will take it.

Working every day with the players, sports scientists and fitness coaches here will make him better.

“But I understand there’s a need for him to play and he’ll get that opportunity with so many games coming up.”

Taylor could feature against Aberdeen — with Bolingoli picking up a knock in the 2-1 win over Lazio.

    Jeez.

I know Jonny Hayes is versatile but he is only ever used at left back these days, and these days you have plenty subs, so basically Lenny is saying

    Hayes > Taylor

I get what Lenny is saying, but still think the guy should have some game time by now, even the last 20 mins or so of a game.

Hopefully he will get a chance at some point. :97:

Can’t see Hayes being used in any other way from here on. I think because of his speed and his hard as nails Dublin attitude he gives us a bit of nastiness that’s needed. I think Lenny rates him in that role and it’s good to have because he’ll chase paper if he thinks it’s going anywhere of significance. I was excited when we signed Paul Hartley because of his play around the box for the diets. He got his fair share of goals because he had an eye for it but I sat watching for months waiting for him to move into that role and it never happened. While I was disappointed Strachan called it right because he was immense at that holding role.

Kinda hard to see when he gets a game, you play against a lower side and you want a more offensive team and he seems the least qualified.

    Yep.

Plus I find it weird that he'll pick Sinclair for the bench over him when there's no chance he'll actually bring him on.

Boli is first choice LB who has experience of playing in a decent league and has also previous European experience.

Jonny Hayes is a 30+ year old squad player who has done relatively well whilst being called upon to step into LB.

Gregg Taylor is a 21 year old newbie LB who has only ever played senior football for Kilmarnock. He will wait for his chance, and quite rightfully so.

His point is that he doesnt need Taylor in the bench because Hayes can cover that position and a few more.

Thing is he still brings Bauer to every match Frimpong starts even though Elhamed can cover both CB and RB and is also in the bench

I think it is quite obvious he doesnt fancy Taylor as a player. If he is being unfair or not we might never know.

Could be he is fine tuning Taylor into his surroundings. I’m sure it is overwhelming for any player that comes from a much smaller club and especially at that age.

I dont know if there is much to fine tune. There is no reason why you shouldnt be right, but would be surprising considering Taylor is an extremely experienced player for his age. Sure it is Kilmarnock but he already played against a team like Aberdeen more than a dozen times in his life. Jeremie Frimpong is a much younger player that never played a professional match before Celtic, for example.
