I think so as well. If McIlroy plays to the best of his ability, he wins in my opinion. That's a big if of course. Shane Lowry might be worth an outside bet as well. He was brought up playing links golf I'm sure, and he showed he is more than capable of getting into contention at the US Open.

I have to say i was gutted the BBC lost coverage to SKY. I am a bit old school and actually loved Peter Alliss' commentary! However, SKY really do excel with their golf coverage, and this day before stuff on the range etc, is superb to watch. Loving it already!

Ive gone McIlroy e/w at 11/1 with Corals, paying top .2 for a top 7 place.

The guy is so rarely out of the top 10 when he is playing average, so to get your money back plus 60% for him to be in the top 7 was too tempting!

Heard through the grapevine some mental prices for renting your house out for the week. £3k for a small 2 bed cottage to £20k for a 5 bed house in Troon. Sounds like yanks with too much money

We're thinking about doing ours when it comes to Carnoustie in 2018. Live a stones throw from the links.

Happy enough with that start from Rose :50: excellent back 9 considering how others have faired.

Threw on 10 quid of bets on another bunch. Can't wait to watch it all unfold

went to the last one at Troon in 2003 or 2004 think it was, was a bit of a * for spectating and had to laugh at the stewards holding up silence please signs when fed ex freight planes were flying overhead into Prestwick constantly.

Turnberry in 2009 was the last one I went to, had to hand in your phone and you got a token for it to collect at the end of the day and was airport like security bags and metal detectors, so you can imagine the queuing. Then more queuing to recollect your phone at the end of the day, just seemed a bit much
