Him and Tonev for less £4m combined would be tremendous business, imo.

I dont see Russell as a striker tbh, I see him more as an attacking midifielder or wide player more like Commons than Stokes.

...it definitely is if we sell Hooper this window (which I really think we will).

I don't know how you can think that Russell is similar to both Hooper and Stokes, who are almost nothing alike.

Hooper's going and Watt's still too inexperienced.

Even if Hooper stayed, Miku and Lassad will be going, so that would leave us with Hooper, Stokes and Watt. Plus Russell wouldn't necessarily be a striker. I'd love to see a front 4 of Forrest Commons Russell and Hooper/Stokes.

Bout time we starting asking a little more of Tony, imho. A really skillful manager would be doing a fine balancing act of keeping his feet on the ground, but making him feel like a world beater at the same time. That's something that is perhaps too much to be expected of Lenny at the moment as it is a skill that probably takes good manager years and years to hone - but if he can manage it with Tony we have our answer to Hooper and Stokes in one package...

the only way that he's similar to them is that hes not a real target man. Hes faster than any of them maybe barring watt and hes a better dribbler than all of them. Hes also better in the air than all of them aside from watt. Stokes is more skillful and hooper is a better finisher and probably better at dropping deep to link play but I think russell is a very different player to anyone we currently have.

Too many times we are far too slow in our build up play, having Russell as another option is my idea of having different types of strikers, Jonny Bhoy rips straight at the heart of the defence, sometimes you just simply need loads of pace.

Agreed, i also think it's an easy deal to do. All we really have to do is put the right offer on the table and see what reaction we get. 1.2 million would be a good price i think, everyone comes out a winner. He'll do well in domestic competitions and if he handles the Champions League he'll be worth at least 3 times that.

Is he better than our own youth prospects?
    Doubt it.
If McGeoch etc don't get games, why would GMS?
    I do like him though.

We don't have a youth player who is quick and full of tricks on the left wing so to answer your question, no we dont have anyone in the youth like him. He would be a great signing for us but we will miss out on him like Russell IMO

    Sammy plays that role mate.
Do you mean sign him as back up?

I'd like us to go for him, but as I said - we don't seem to be promoting our own youngsters into 1st team, why would GMS fare any better?
More likely McGeoch or Watt go the other way on loan.

I thought the same, but we don't want too much competition in the league. I think the pair of them would benefit from a move to the continent. Try their hand at a different style of football, surrounded by a different style of player, with a good development system.

Or too a Premiership team, like Hull or Crystal Palace.

GMS has something we lack in the squad which is the trickery and directness to beat full backs regularly. Forrest did provide it up until a point and still can on occasion but it wouldn't harm us to bring natural balance by signing him.

McGeouch is incomparable as a footballer.
